The number of Turkish-backed Syrian militants who were killed while fighting for the Government of National Accord (GNA) has exceeded 400, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on June 17.
According to the monitoring group’s director, Rami Abdulrahman, at least 27 of the militants killed in Libya were minors, under the age of 18.
Abdurrahman revealed that more than 14,000 Syrian militants are now fighting in Libya. Turkey is reportedly working to send even more to the north African country.
“The transfers of mercenaries is not only limited to Syrians loyal to Erdogan, but also includes those who are classified as international terrorist groups such as ISIS, al-Qaeda and some jihadi organizations that move from Syria to Libya via Turkish territory with the knowledge of all international intelligence services in Turkish territory,” Abdurrahman said in an interview on the Libya al-Hadath TV.
The deployment of Syrian militants in Libya allowed GNA forces to make significant achievements in the northwestern part of the country. However, at a great cost for the Syrians who were used as a cannon fodder.
In spite of the international calls for a political settlement of the conflict in Libya, Turkey is stepping up its support the GNA. Anakara appears to be more interested in a military victory than a diplomatic compromise.
There are no Syrians loyal to Erdogan . There are only Turcoman traitors to Syria loyal to Erdogan. A big difference.
