After a war that lays oil infrastructures to waste, America would struggle to restore the petrodollar system. But if backed by its NATO allies, America would be able to restore the system through the same method it’s using in Syria. Thus, rebuilding oil facilities where possible and keeping them under control of its allied militias to ensure that it sells only in dollar. The U.S is more likely to succeed here because China is reluctant to get involved in the Middle East. China hasn’t any meaningful forces forces deployed close to the Middle East, which means China cannot respond adequately in an emergency. Russia will likely get involved to some extent, but it would be interested in reaching a deal with the U.S than try to bring America down and risk a bigger war. Russia would be more interested in dividing the spoils than fighting the U.S.

Soleimani’s killing was more than the murder of one man. I guess you didn’t see the crowd and the stampede that killed over a hundred. Soleimani was Iran’s next supreme leader, or at least president when he retires. the killing of one man cannot bring such a huge crowd (over a million) out in the streets protesting his assassination. That was a big humiliation, especially considering the rhetoric of Iranian leaders. It was also a decapitation strike, and one that demoralized many Shiite fighters. It also exposed Iran’s weariness of war and paved the way for future assassinations, because America realized that it can raise its bar of provocation against Iran without fear of any meaningful response. I don’t think an attack on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure will unite Iran more than Soleimani’s killing. In fact, I don’t think over a million Iranians would poor out in the streets to protest a U.S attack on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. The assassination also drove fear and caution in the hearts of Iran’s policy makers, because Iran really checked Iran’s provocation of the U.S., especially in Iraq. This was no ordinary event, and the repercussions will continue to ripple across the Middle East for years. the middle eastern game of power just changed.

The lives of millions of people were put on the line from the time Iran adopted a policy to taking over Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem.
