On November 9th, a man attacked bystanders and police officers with a knife after a car fire in Melbourne, Australia.
The incident has led to one bystander’s death due to stab wounds, two more are injured. The knifeman was shot by police in the chest and was sent to hospital in critical condition.

The ABC cited witnesses who claim they saw the man throw some kind of object into the car that set it alight. The outlet claimed that the man crashed the car, got out and threw the object into the car.
The knifeman was allegedly the driver of the car that caught fire. Witnesses claimed that the stab victim approached the man to see what was happening and to possibly offer help, at that moment he was stabbed in the chest.

Victoria Police said a bomb response unit had been called to the area and was currently making the scene safe.
The local police are also claiming that there is no known link to terrorism and it is likely that the incident would not be considered a terrorist attack.
Victoria Police Superintendent David Clayton said when police arrived at the scene, they were confronted by a man brandishing a knife and threatening them. “At the same time, passers-by were calling out that members of the public had been stabbed. Police shot the male in the chest and he is now in a critical condition in hospital,” he said, adding that the officers were OK.
In a statement released later, police said that the knifeman assaulted police officers and civilians, attempted to flee on foot, then was shot while lunging at a police officers, as the above footage shows.
Officers said they were initially called to a car fire around 4:20pm (AEDT). The local Fire Brigade said that the fire was contained within 10 minutes.
Police also urged members of the public to upload their footage.

The police and State Premier Daniel Andrews asked people to avoid the area.

This marks one of the first incidents in recent times in Australia to make headlines. Clearly there are constant reports of violent crimes and attacks in the US.
As of recently, the most significant one being Robert D. Bowers who on October 27th, opened fire in a synagogue and killed 11 people, injuring 7 in what authorities described as a hate crime.
Europe has also seen a rise in violent crime. That increase is mostly attributed to refugees, however there is no conclusive evidence to substantiate the claim. In London, UK stabbings have gone up 16% since the start of 2018.
Overall in the UK, the total number of offences involving a knife or bladed instrument that have been recorded by cops in the year to March 2018 rose to 40,147, which is a seven-year-high.
The three most recent stabbing crimes in London all had teenagers as victims which subsequently succumbed to their wounds. On November 1st, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death. On November 2nd, a 17-year-old-boy was stabbed and later died in hospital. Most recently, on November 5th, a 16-year-old-boy, the drill rapper JaySav was stabbed and died in the street.
Violent crime appears to be on the rise in Europe and Australia, not up to US levels, however. That may be due to less abundance of firearms in Europe and Australia.
