Kiev forces attacked the Russian region of Belgorod using 60 drones and 50 others munitions over the past 24 hours, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported on May 30.
“In the Belgorod district, the air defense system shot down an enemy drone over the village of Repnoye and two over the village of Ustinka. There were no consequences on the ground. The village of Zhuravlevka was attacked by the Ukrainian military with a kamikaze drone, which subsequently detonated. There are no casualties and no destruction,” Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel.
He also reported Ukrainian attacks on the settlements of Baitsury, Gruzskoye and Bogun-Gorodok in the Borysovsky district, the settlements of Stary and Tishanka in the Volokonovsky district as well as on the settlements of Kozinka, Dronovka, Poroz, Spodariushino, Novostroyevka-Vtoraya, Sovkhozny, Dobropolye and Gorkovsky in the Graivoronsky district.
“The village of Dorogoshch was shelled twice. There were no casualties. The power line was damaged, residents of the villages of Dorogoshch, Smorodino, Pochayevo, Dronovka and Sankovo remain partially without light. Emergency crews are working on the site,” the governor said.
In the Krasnoyaruzhsky district, the settlement of Prilesye and Popovka were also shelled by Kiev forces, according to Gladkov.
The governor also said that four FPV drones were shot down by border guards from small arms close to the settlement of Grafovka.
In addition, he reported shelling and drone attacks on the settlements of Murom, Novaya Tavolzhanka, Belyanka, Stadnikov and Mukhin in the Shebekino district.
Ukraine intensified attacks on Belgorod and neighboring regions in recent months, wounding or killing dozens of Russian civilians. The main aim of these repeated Ukrainian attacks is apparently to make up for the never ending failures of Kiev forces on the battlefield.
As a response to recent attacks, the Russian military resumed large-scale group strikes against military and energy infrastructure in Ukraine last March. In addition, the Russian military launched earlier this month a limited ground operation in the Kharkiv region, the source of most recent attacks on Belgorod. More than a dozen settlements have already been captured.
