The Russian military delivered Over 3.7 tonnes of humanitarian to a refugee camp in the Syrian province of Rif Dimashq on August 13, chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties Alexei Tsygankov said on August 14.
“During the past day, officers of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties conducted a humanitarian operation in the Hirjilla refugee camp in the Rif Dimashq governorate. A total of 3.7 tonnes of humanitarian cargoes, including building materials and food products were distributed among civilians,” Tsygankov said adding that sixty civilians, including 19 children, received medical assistance from Russian military doctors.
Since the start of the reconciliation process in Syria, the Russian Center has carried out about 1,900 humanitarian delivering about 2.9 tonnes of humanitarian cargoes.
During a weekily press briefing on August 15, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova provided more details about the humantiarian efforts carried by Russian and Syrian forces.
“In 117 localities least affected by the hostilities, there are refugee reception and accommodation camps for more than 490,000 people. In addition, in 295 villages, intensive work is underway to create an infrastructure for accommodating almost 1 million refugees and IDPs,” she said.
Zakharova added that engineering units of the Syrian Armed Forces continued demining the area and facilities in the province of Homs. Recently, two hectares of land and ten buildings were demined, 50 explosive items, including 21 improvised explosive devices were detected and destroyed.
