The Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a large-scale offensive in the east Damascus countryside this week, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s large stretch of bases near the mountainous town of Al-Dumayr.
While ISIS has seized Brigade 559 Base and several checkpoints, they have failed to capture the Tishreen Power Plant and the Al-Dumayr Military Airport, despite a number of attempts to bypass the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses at these important installations.
