On November 7, the Syrian Army’s Tiger Forces, the Desert Hawks Brigade, Hezbollah and other pro-government gorups launched a series of attacks on Jaish al-Fatah militants in the Rakhem Hill, the 1070 Apartment Project and the al-Assad neighborhood.
Following a series of firefights, the Syrian government forces seized the Rakhem Hill near the Mo’tah hill where clashes are still ongoing.

Recently, the Iranian Fars News Agency released a series of photos from the southern countryside of Aleppo city. The photos show the Liwa Fatemiyoun militia group, operating 152 mm towed artillery guns during the battle with Jaish al-Fatah militants. Pro-militant sources say that over 1,000 Liwa Fatemiyoun fighters are deployed in Aleppo.
The Jaish al-Mujahideen militant group has announced the death of Col. Ahmad al-Sa’eed who was the leader of the group’s anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) team in Aleppo city. Last weekend, Jaish al-Mujahideen increased ATGM strikes on the government forces’ posotions at the Uhud Hillin southern Aleppo. The death of al-Sa’eed will likely led to decrease of these operations in the area.
Menawhile, the Syrian military has allegedly deployed a significant force to the area of the Kuweires Military Airport east of Aleppo city. The reports speculate that the military build up is linked with the army’s offensive on the ISIS-controlled town of Al-Bab. However, most likely, this deployment was made amid recent expansion of the army’s control zone in the eastern Aleppo countryside.

Its a fluid situation .. hills change hands faster then reporters write/change their versions…

What do I really care of some random hill is captured or not? I care about the big picture, that’s why I come here.
Those random hills ARE the big picture.. High ground like that offers fire control and defensive high ground. The capture of high ground will drastically affect the tempo and outcome of clashes.
Locally those kind of hills are very imortant. The Der El Zor incident was also about loosing high ground. Kurds from Afrin seemes to be stoped going for Al Bab by ISIS highground.
It extra important, if You only are in infantery fighting. Your grenades and bullets reach longer too, You see the enemy.
This is the way most of the fightings are here. No speerheds withs tanks covered by jets and hawk helicopters.

Yes, but they take information in from all other sources and try to read whats reliable or not. Some storytellers and mapreaders are not neutral and tell us, what they want us to know misguiding us with no hesitation.
Try to take all sourcer in and compare. I have a long list but also filter on all of them.
Take the bomb in Turkey the other day. Turks and the populations thougt PKK did it. Now ISIS tell, they did. Cant see, whats right. Fine for ISIS if force are used in Turkey…
Even the commanders on the ground have a hard time getting and processing the information before it rapidly changes..
Units move, quickly many times.. Plans at the points of contact get drastically changed when officers and soldiers quickly realize that intel was bad or the situation has drastically changed.

Agree with others here. Many places its very fluid and are going for- and backwards soon.
My focus for the moment re the northern part. Here towns as Al Rai and Ekatarin has changed flags several times and sometimes they are half and half.
In Der El Zor an important hill has changed owners several times as well and might do it again.
Of course there are better map makers than others, but I also see many rapports overestimate. A hill, a village does not “belong” to some as long as its not secured and can be defended against normal military activity.
Many false rapports as well.
Of course we all prefare accurate maps. But its not possition if You have 5 soldiers and a michinegun at a hill top in a hole.
Another version could be only to draw maps of real changes, when they are in delayed versions.

New Raqqa offensive by coalition forces will pressure ISIS to open and move to new fronts/HQ. That will result in Deir Azoor and probably Palmyra area attacks. US and Russia Chess game continues. As coalition hopes that Russian/Syrians busy in Aleppo and may be Al Bab, new ISIS pressure points will significantly engage the regime depleting forces.
All above would make Turkish move in Idlib and surrounding area more plausible.

Whatever happened to claymore mines and fortifying a position after it is captured. Seems like all kinds of manpower is wasted capturing and losing same ground.
