On April 28, ISIS attacked positions of Jaysh al-Ababil (one of the Free Syrian Army militant groups) in the area between the Yarmouk refugee camp and the district of Yalda and captured a hospital and nearby buildings there, according to reports from pro-militant sources.
Over the past days, ISIS members had repeatedly attacked positions of their more “moderate” counterparts in southern Damascus. However, according to local sources, all these attacks were mostly aimed at preventing them from negotiating with the Syrian government. The ISIS leadership sends them a signal: “if you don’t fight the Syrian Army, we will attack you”.
Despite the high military activity, ISIS is in a complicated situation in the area. Recently, the group has lost a few of its field commanders in southern Damascus and has been forced to withdraw from some positions in the districts of al-Kadam, al-Jourah, Madaniyah and Zayn. At the same time, fierce clashes in Taqaddom has resulted in almost no progress for the Syrian Army.
Local sourecs link the lack of the progress in southern Damascus with the absense of the Tiger Forces that are one the most effective offensive formations of the Syrian government. Nonetheless, even without the Tiger and his troops, the Syrian military has a significant advantage over the militants and continue gaining momentum.
Meanwhile, speculations once again appeared that the Syrian government and ISIS in southern Damascus had reanched an agreement that would allow ISIS members to withdraw from Yarmouk to the Homs desert.
It’s important to note that no official confirmation on the issue has appeared yet.
Considering that “ISIS will soon withdraw” speculations appeare on a cosntant basis, this very deal may have nothing with the real developmments on the ground. However, if ISIS really withdraws, this will allow to avoid additional destruction and casualties in southern Damascus.

The semi- humans must be very proud of causing and creating this total destruction.
That’s what they are paid for.
insane!
Great! Thanks!
It would be very interesting if Syrian state were able to capture and identify nationalities of these ISIS fighters around Damascus.
Why? We already know that they come from all over the place. The composition of ISIS has been very well documented. I’d rather that the composition of the socalled Free Syrian Army gets some spotlight instead.
If they’re “high value” we might see a few unmarked helicopters around :)
SAA could take Al-Hajar Al Aswad to divide the ISIS pocket.
Syrian forces need to get tougher & smarter here. Guessing ISIS will not surrender & uses negotiations to their advantage
Keep an eye on this – https://syria.liveuamap.com/
I don’t know if it is a stitch up, propaganda or something, but the other sites I was viewing have all been suddenly closed.
So is that Turkish troops expanding eastward ? In North America FarsNews has been unavailable for at least a month, what other sites are closed ?
They hit here, AMN has been attacked and so on and so on.
They should give them “a fake hope”, for day or two, by only using ground artilery to shell them. And after that major attack on relaxed pigs and rats. In mean time Tigers will arive.
Whose anti-aircraft quad gun tank is that in the pictures? I remember seeing one just like it in a picture of armoured vehicles ‘surrendered’ in the Qualmun pocket a week ago. If that’s an SAA unit, can this be the same vehicle? If so, that says something good about the supply efficiency of those units.
It’s ZSU-23-4 Shilka, and it is used by all sides in ground support role. Considering large number of Shilkas in Syria, it is higly unlikely that this is the same one.
Thank you for the information. In Syria, it’s like the old American ‘sports’ joke: “You can’t tell them apart without a score card.” As the map of the Yarmouk action shows, all those different units from near and far involved. I hope the Palestinian troops can help keep civilian casualties down. One of the pictures showed a technical truck in a street with kids on bikes nearby. Imagine having to grow up with such violence and the fear of violence affecting you all day. Since, if I remember correctly, Yarmouk is one of the original Palestinian diaspora camps, this would be a natural recruiting ground for almost any military group. Any idea as to how many of the Takfiris in Yarmouk are from there originally?
One way to tell them apart is by looking at beards and clothes. I know almost nothing about ethnical/political situation in the area, so I leave comments about that to others. What I can tell you firsthand is that war is hell for both kids and adults (as someone who grew up in Yugoslavia before the wars).

This really contradicts the whole ‘Civil’ war narrative endlessly put forth by the unsubstantiated western press. Money, Murder and Mayhem as your primary means of motivating your Allies. Gosh if that doesn’t prove the involvement of F.UK.US what does? Isn’t that signal essentially the same for the whole world, you are either with US or against US. Another catchy F.UK.US slogan.
Gosh anybody heard from the Skripals, is this turning into a kidnapping or just another failed publicity stunt? First you want to start WW III over their deaths and now nobody can talk to them since they might be alive after all. The expression protective custody seems a bit of a stretch. Or is that another sanitized code word for MK ultra.
No evacuation for ISIS and HTS! Kill the rats!
Exterminate the maggots, spineless creatures, creepy crawlers and rats.
I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of the Syrian government offensive. It’s unfortunate that civilians are caught up in this conflict. Hopefully most of them have gotten out of the way of the government’s advance.
Not sure about the much-vaunted “Tigers” – the PLA seem like highly motivated and effective soldiers, and I’m sure the armour support is a welcome addition. Although they are old, the Shilkas are still devastating. You’d hug the ground if they drew a bead on you.
Yes, you’re right about the shilkas, but I really don’t know why SAA doesn’t want to use those AA 57mm double guns, mounted on t55 chasis? They’re good additions too.
They use what they have available, and number of ZSU-57-2 in running condition was very low. They do use 57mm cannon, mounted on a truck.
You sure? Zis is also very good and cheap and effective.
I wasn’t talking about ZiS-2 but S-60, because it is towed equivalent of guns used in ZSU-57-2. Syria had lots of S-60s lying around, and mounting one on a vehicle isn’t rocket science. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/5ac5ef82de1580763b0d7bd3b632cff5b8468da59e9af1b2629464779fd62160.jpg
