On Wednesday, ISIS fighters captured 4 checkpoints of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on the road between al-Sukhnah town and Tayibe village north in the eastern Homs countryside, according to the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq.
ISIS fighters reportedly destroyed a tank and a vehicle of the SAA during their advance according to Amaq.
Syrian pro-government sources also reported that ISIS fighters recaptured the Hail gas field west of al-Sukhnah town. According to the sources, ISIS fighters are now encircling the town from the east, west and south. Furthermore, al-Shula village on the al-Sukhnah-Deir Ezzor highway was also recaptured by ISIS fighters, according to reports.
The SAA launched a counter-attack and an intense fighting is now ongoing in multiple areas.
Other pro-government sources said that the SAA will redeploy large forces including special operation units and units of the 4th Armoured Division from the eastern Hama countryside to al-Sukhnah town to launch another counter-attack.

Meanwhile, Amaq announced that ISIS fighters captured the strategic Mhassa area south of al-Qaryatayn town in the southern Homs countryside. ISIS also captured Jubail, Adah, Barakah, Kuhlah, Zarqah, Thanyah, al-Nasrani and Qanas mountains south of al-Qaryatayn town according to Amaq.
Moreover, Syrian opposition sources confirmed that the SAA deployed more units in Mahin town north of al-Qaryatayn. The SAA is likely planning to exhaust ISIS fighters with clashes around the town before storming it to minimize its loses.

Meawnhile government troops liberated the villages of Hardanah, Tal Adimah, Um Mil, Khurayjah, Abu Hubaylat, Abu Dail Sharqi, Fanusiya, Tal Hatt, Kherbet Jassem, Barghuthiyah and ‘Arshunah from ISIS in the eastern Hama countryside.
Earlier, the SAA and its allies divided the ISIS-held pocket in the area into two separate parts.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Russian Aerospace Forces are ready to prevent any ISIS attacks from the areas controlled by the US-led coalition. The ministry added that ISIS members that attacked al-Qaryatayn from came from the US-held areas.
The SAA are battling a lot of fronts, I hope they are not overextending.

Another lie from RuMOD. Qaratayn lies more then 150 kms from SAA frontlines and they and SAA command stated earlier it was just some sleeper cells, 16 members, with hardly any weapons. Were it correct, how could they have penetrated so deep in SAA held territory?

Opposition sources claim that IS and locals took many weapons from the defeated SAA and or NDF units. The pocket is rapidly growing and while I cannot think they can win, their “distraction” is growing rapidly.

Why Unbelievable, 16 people are hard to detect, even without help they could move during night and lay low during day. Everything else was in place, they came, rounded up other guys that were at the spot and committed their takeover. It’s no secret that US trains those “rebels” provides weapon and info. RuMod states that 300 left Rubkan on september 28, but i think thay could have been at Qaratayn the whole time, or started moving in one by one long before 28th of september. This time they had several ISIS prisoners confirming what they already knew, two can play the disinformation game , but last I heard from Ivan Sidorenko most of these areas are only under fierce attacks with scores dead of ISIS so far , road was closed between Sukhna to DE and they still have the other road open in the desert, too many ways to resupply.
They are about 5 km from Al Mayadin and pushing into Muhassan and towards the Euphrates.
You know we say there isnt proof the isis fighters attacking kurds came from saa areas and i hate kurds but is there proof that qaryatayn attackers came from tanf by the russian ministry? Thats a loooong distance and before pro government sources said it was sleeper cells and pro isis supporters and families in town and corrupt ndf. Just saying.
Anyway im very sad now, this is a rollercoaster of emotions this war. Qaryatayn palmyra and sukhnah are endangered again. and the kurds may take the omar oil fields before saa. Those have the best crude oil in all of syria they are very important for the government and future economy relaxation. Anyways hopefully hama pocket is ready by next week and those guys and tigers reinforcements sort all this mess up.
