The al-Nusra(al-Qaeda)-led coalition Jaish al-Fatah is deploying fresh reinforcements to the southwestern countryside of Aleppo city, according to local sources and media activists. The reinforcements are set to counter the ongoing offensive by the government forces in the area.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Mariya Zakharova, the militants are currently have about 6,000 fighters that attack the area of western Aleppo. In this case, it has to be noted that Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian al-Qaeda branch) and its allies from Jaish al-Fatah lost a major part of their offensive units. The rest of militants are low-quality infantry that are not able to conduct wide-scale offensive operations. This is why the militant coalition is pushed to deploy fresh reinforcements from Idlib.
Meanwhile, the al-Assad neighborhood of Aleppo city remains the main area of clashes between the government forces and Jaish al-Fatah militants. According to pro-government sources, on November 11, the Syrian army and its allies liberated about a half of the neighborhood, including the Science Academy and the church, after a series of clashes.
In turn, pro-militant sources argue that the ‘opposition’ ambushed Syrian troops, killed tens of them and retook control of the area. No photo or video evidence of claims have been provided by both sides.
