On October 13, the Syrian government forces achieved another notable success in northern Aleppo. The army and Liwa al-Quds took control of Talat Bureij, Majbal Al-Zatin, Tal Owayjah, and Tal Al-Asfar. Controlling of these hilltops allows, the government forces are able to easily defend the previous gains in northern Aleppo, overlook areas in the northern part of Haydariyah Neighborhood and prepare a push to set control of the Ba’edin Roundabout. In southern Aleppo, the army and Hezbollah captured the strategic Sheikh Sa’eed hill in the Sheikh Sa’eed Neighborhood.
This developments allowed the Syrian army and its allies to continue successfull military operaions on October 14. The government forces engaged Al Nusra and its allies in Sheikh Sa’eed and south of the north Aleppo quarries. Heavy clashes and artillery duels also erupted in the 1070 Apartment Project. Up to 40 militants were reported killed and injured in the clashes in northern Aleppo.
Reports are also appearing that al-Nusra and its allies are preparing a major counter-offensive inside Aleppo city that will be supported by an attack from the outside. This will likely the last attempt by US-backed forces to reverse the course of Aleppo battle.
Meanwhile, the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Arab Air Force have intensified air raids on terrorist targets inside and outside Aleppo.
According to the Head of the Main Operations Department of Russia’s General Staff Lieutenant-General Sergey Rudskoy, the Russian Aerospace Forces have been massivelly targeting militant targets outside Aleppo.
“Russian aircraft are delivering pinpoint airstrikes engaging targets outside of the city of Aleppo. We don’t attack weddings and funerals. Every airstrike is registered by on-board monitoring equipment and unmanned aircraft,” Rudskoy said. “Employing these systems during bombing runs by the Sukhoi Su-24M aircraft can guarantee almost 100% efficiency of the airstrikes.”
The Russian Defense Ministry has not provided information about numbers of delivered air strikes. Nonetheless, pro-government sources say that there have been about 150 air strikes (by Russian and Syrian warplanes) in the area of Aleppo city since the start of the week.
“We don’t bomb weddings and funerals”
Savage.
That is a particularly pointed reference to Saudi (bombing of Yemen funeral)
