Since yesterday, clashes have been ongoing between the Syrian government forces and the Jaish al-Fatah militant alliance (includes Jabhat al-Nusra) in southwestern and northern Aleppo.
The Syrian army, Hezbollah and Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba engaged Jaish al-Fatah militants in the 1070 Apartment Project, the Sheikh Saeed and Al-Ameria neighobrhoods in southern Aleppo, near the Aleppo Citadel in central Aleppo and in the Bostan al-Pasha neighborhood in northern Aleppo.
Despite this, the liberation of the Air Defense Battalion Base and the Bazo Hill in the southern Aleppo countryside on October 24 remained the main success of the Syrian government forces.
According to pro-government sources, during last 3 days Jashi al-Fatah lost up to 170 fighters in clashes in the southern Aleppo countryside. Only recent failed attack by Jashi al-Fatah on the Syrian army’s positions at the Air Defense Battalion resulted in 25 killed militants.
The Air Defense Battalion is located at the strategic Khan Tuman – Ramouseh road. Controlling this area, the government forces are able to threat the strategic militant stronghold south of Aleppo – Khan Tuman. Some pro-government sources already stated that the army will develop the advance in the Khan Tuman direction. However, this will be hardly possible until liberation of the 1070 Apartment Project, Hikmah and Rashidin 5 in southern Aleppo.
