On October 27, the Syrian army and Liwa al-Quds launched an offensive on the strategic Hanano Youth Housing Complex. The area was controlled by the Harakat Nuruddin Al-Zinki terrorist group that was a part of the Jaish al-Fatah militant operation room. Pro-government media accounts claim that the army and allies already took control of a number of sites, killing few members of the terrorist group.
Fierce clashes are ongoing.
In southwestern Aleppo, the army and allies have repelled another attempt by militants to retake the Air Defense Battalion Base. 5 militants were killed. Local sources say that Iranian military servicemen were operating in the area along with Syrian troops.

Unfornfirmed reports have appeared that Russia has deployed few military helicopters to the Nayrab Military Airport, locates southeast of Aleppo city, in order to support the Syrian government’s offensive in the Aleppo countryside. By now, these reports have not been contrimed by photo or video evidence.
In October, Russian Mi-28 attack helicopters were spotted during the offensive operation by pro-government forces in the province of Latakia. This was the first major evidence of participation of Russia’s Mi-28 gunships in clashes against the terrorists since the operation in Palmyra. Some pro-government analysts say that this indicates the gorwth of close air support provided by the Russian Aerospace Forces to the Syrian army across the country.
In October a series of reports appeared in The Washington Post and other US media about expected supplies of various modern weapon systems to the so-called ‘moderate opposition’ in Syria. The reports argued that Washington was considering the new plan for Syria that included massive supplies of weapons that had to allow the oppositioneers to defend themselves from the Russian and Syrian air power and artillery. This fact was described as an indication of Washnigton’s skepticism about the prospects of so-called ‘peaceful solution’ in the country. Nonetheless, it was neither approved nor denied, according to the media.
The secret CIA program of training and arming ‘moderate terrorists’ has been the core of American strategy, aiming to overthrow Assad and set a puppet government in Syria, since the start of the war. Nonetheless, the Obama administration is likely set to postponed the resumption and expansion of this program and to pass the need to make a decision to next president. The US leadership is not ready to make the decision now because the recent military developments have shown that despite all money spending, supplies and CIA efforts, Washington still cannot rely on the moderate terrorists as a clearly pro-US force on the ground. Every US attempt to separate secular militant groups from jihadi factions, at least for PR needs, have failed. And the recently created New Syrian Army (NSyA) has shown an impotence in clashes with ISIS. The US propaganda campaign to discredit Russian-Syrian-Iranian operations to liberate Aleppo faced a significant problem – massive civilian casualties during the Mosul offensive, supported by the US-led coalition.
In this case, open and massive supplies of arms and munitions to the terrorist groups in Syria could lead to significant loses for Washington in political and PR terms and will hardly lead to strengthening of the US influence on the Syrian conflict. If the US administration avoids to do this, Moscow, Damascus and Tehran will fully take the initiative in the war that would also lead to negative effects to the US influence in the Middle East.
So, most likely, Washington will make a compromise decision to allow its regional allies – Saudi Arabia or Qatar – to supply limited numbers of man-portable air-defense systems to the so-called ‘opposition’, even if this opposition is al-Nusra Front. At the same time, the US-controlled media and diplomats will continue to put pressure on Syria, Russia and Iran over alleged civilian casualties in Aleppo city and ignore the humanitarian situation in Iraq. It will not allow the terrorists to re-take the initiative in the war but will buy time until the new US president comes into the office and start to impellent own strategy in the region.
So.. you use liveuamap which is known to be extremely russophobic (obviously, cause its made by chauvinist neo-nazi bandera cult followers), which clearly does not accurately represent situation on the ground and considers the official and legitimate security forces a “REGIME”…

Hello Igor. I actually find sources like liveumap to be useful. I take into account who they like or don´t like. This helps in the process of cleaning through the raw information or propaganda and getting to the truth. Further, I do agree, they tend to be a bit ´slow´ in reflecting Syrian government and allied gains. Have a good day.

The big difference between the two is that tutomap relies on geolocation of videos and photos while liveuamap base their map on press releases from the different parties (with a slant towards the opposition forces)
I’ve been following both maps for some time; tutomap is right most of the time but sometimes they get it completely wrong like when the siege of Aleppo was broken a few months ago. There were no photo evidence as the rebels declared a media black-out so tutomap was several kilometers wrong while liveuamap had it right because they believed the rebels statements

Tutomap looks nice but where do you see updates on it like on Liveuamap? Where are the comments? It’s boring.

But where do you see updates by the minute like Uamap, which makes it sexy? How do you even know if there are map changes if there are no notifications? And like I said, not seeing the jihadi nutjobs comment or the pro-government guys gleefully disparaging them when villages are taken, tutomap lacks any kind of flavour.

I frequent both sites: Liveuamap for updates and discussions; Tutomap for accuracy
Liveumap are always groan inducingly terrorist supporters, the propaganda is constant and always one sided but they have been a lot better and quicker lately at reporting government gains, like Souran, which they might have reported first I think.
