As SouthFront reported on October 28 (morning report, evening report), the real military situation in Aleppo city is far away from clickbating headlines that exploit the jihadi offensive on the Syrian government forces to attract the audience.
The joint militant forces, consisting of Jabhat Fatahl al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian al-Qaeda branch), Ahrar al-Sham, Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki, the Islamic Front and others, launched on October 28 a do-or-die attempt to break the siege from militant-controlled areas in eastrern Aleppo. The militants attacked the Syrian government forces (the Syrian army, the National Defense Forces, the Desert Hawk Brigade and Hezbollah) in western Aleppo and using PR effect of massive usage of Suicide Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (at least 4 SVBIEDs were used) made people believe in the massive gains of ‘opposition’.
Indeed, the joint militant forces took a part of the Mynian Sawmills, which had been a neutral zone before the attack, and ‘entered’ into the 1070 Apartment Project and the Al-Assad Neighobrhood. Nontheless, clashes in the 1070 Apartment Project and Al-Assad have not stopped since the start of the advance. So, these areas cannot be described as really seized by Jabhat Fatah al-Sham & Co.
The militants also contributed significant efforts to shell the government-controlled areas across Aleppo, including the New Aleppo Neighborhood and the 3000 Apartment Project. An important role in their initial success played a lack of support by the Russian Aerospace Forces.
On October 29, the Syrian army and its allies remained in control of the western part of the Al-Assad Neighborhood and of the northwestern part of the 1070 Apartment Project. Jabhat Fatah al-Sham launched an attack on the Syrian army in the Miyan area, but was not able to achieve a success there. These allowed the Syrian army, the Desert Hawks Brigade and Hezbolalh to counter-attack in Al-Assad.
Local sources indicate that the terrorists are in defensive now and the pro-government forces, supported by the Syrian Arab Air Force, are making attempts to regain the ground lost to the terrorists yesterday.
Attempts of the ‘moderate terrorists’ to break the Syrian army’s defenses in the urban area of western Aleppo allows the government forces to implement their advantage in the fire power (in case of proper actions of the military staff, for sure). This leads to purging of the militant coalition’s military equipment and manpower involved in the offensive. Strategically, this undermines the total military power of anti-Assad forces in Syria.

It is difficult to be certain but my impression from these reports is that the offensive resulted in no significant breakthrough, that the advance has been halted and the pushing back of the moderate terrorist has begun.
Good news!
Who knows what the fuck is true, usually I go by whatever is the concensus among Southfront, Masdar and Liveuamap, so with all 3 reporting massive advances, that’s what I believed. Now you’re going contrary to Liveuamap and Masdar so I don’t have a goddamn clue, although of course I hope that you’re right.
Either way, like before, utilise their distracted attention and implement swift offensives in Latakia and the like, while their forces are away.
Southfront is such a propaganda blog lol They even contradict their own regime news lol Al Assad has been lost, try reading al masdar
Nope. Masdar contradicts itself more often, as we have seen yesterday.
One thing for sure is that in the end, it all depends on people risking their lives on the ground, no shooting war was ever won on twitter and news sites.
I would not trust Liveuamap. It has a very heavy militant slant. They take for ever to show government advances and show militant advances instantly. They had 1070 apartments under militant control and never showed it under government control, even after everyone else confirmed the SAA had a large section of it.
try https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1OSttyvbGKqntDjF8Q0vfHCHUZo4&hl=en_US It doesn’t give you all the updates on the right, alot of those updates are propaganda anyway, but I feel its more accurate and doesn’t favor the terrorists. After a while I was wondering if I was watching a map generated by a terrorist or terrorist supporter and felt uncomfortable.
They’re getting quicker at reporting government gains plus without the updates on the right, how would you know if the map has changed at all?
I look at different news outlets and confirm the gains on the map. Most of the updates on the Liveuamap map are pro terrorist. Compare their map to the one I gave, there are a lot of differences, and the one I use jives more with news reports. There were too many instances of Liveuamap updating government gains, placing the icon on the map, but NEVER changing the color on the map to show the gains. It happened too often for my tastes. Compare both and see what you think. I know how you feel about the updates, I felt the same at one time.
Liveuamap is a djihadi gross propaganda tool. Syrian army only bomb hospitals and make no gains, rebels are on fire everywhere and everytime LOL
Southfront and Masdar ok, but Southfront seem more accurate.
Error here : ” the Syrian army and its allies remained in control of the western part of the Al-Assad Neighborhood” >>> you mean the Eastern part of the Al-Assad
The second video, is from Daraa, according to Al-Masdar.
I found southfront reporting to be fairly accurate. They are not afraid to report SAA losses and terrorists successes.
It appears that the terrorist offensive had some initial gains and are now being pushed backed. In the long run this will make the capture of Aleppo easier, due to the losses they incur with equipment and manpower.
You never know what is going on behind the scenes. The Syrian Army and Russia may have wanted this offensive. Witness this bizarre announcement by Putin to call off air strikes, almost acting as an enticement or bait to get the terrorist to commit themselves.
In any event, the SAA and her allies need to finish off the recapture of Aleppo. It is taking too long and becoming a political tool for the west to hit Russia with more sanctions. Being held up in Aleppo means the Yankee Jihad can set their sights on Raqqa, and Turkey has free hand to cobble up territory in Northern Syria.
