The night of December 1st was marked by another wave of Russian strikes in the rear regions of Ukraine. In their turn, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted drone strikes in the Russian border regions, unfortunately, killing civilians.

The intensity of Russian night strikes was not particularly high but it inflicted more damage to Ukrainian rear infrastructure. The Ukrainian military managed to intercept less than a half of Russian UAVs. In total, 78 Russian drones were detected over Ukrainian territory at night. The Armed Forces of Ukraine reportedly intercepted only 32 of them. The numbers were confirmed by the Air Force of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian military, “45 Russian drones were locally lost”, which probably means that they struck their targets.

Explosions thundered throughout the country. According to local monitoring sources, Ukrainian air defense was active in at least six rear regions, including in the Kiev, Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Cherkassy, Zhitomir regions.

Russian strikes were recorded in the Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporozhie and Mykolaiv regions, as well as in the border Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson regions. The Ukrainian rear regions came under combined strikes of Russian drones and missiles.

The footage confirmed that at least one Russian missile reached its target in the Dnipropetrovsk region. As a result of the attack, Ukrainian UAV assembly shop and the training place for drone operators were reportedly destroyed.

The newly shared footage showed the destruction of Ukrainian warehouses hidden in civilian houses in the border areas. The Russian Ministry of Defense shared video of destruction of a field ammo depot by a dropped explosive device in the village of Druzhba in the Sumy region.

Another ammo depot was destroyed by precision fire of Russian artillery coordinated by aerial reconnaissance in the Kharkiv region.

The air defense of Ukraine cannot cope with Russian massive strikes both near the frontlines and deep in the rear areas. The Ukrainian military complains that the effectiveness of strikes of Russian kamikaze UAVs is growing. According to the representative of the Air Force of Ukraine, Russian Geran UAVs can fly over the territory of Ukraine for about 24 hours without any pauses. The Russian military is increasing their fuel tanks and reduce their warheads.

On the other hand, the effectiveness of Ukrainian drone strikes in the Russian rear remains low. Last night, Russian air defense intercepted and destroyed 29 Ukrainian UAVs in the Bryansk, Kaluga, Smolensk and Kursk regions. There was no damage to Russian rear infrastructure reported. Unfortunately, the strikes resulted in civilian casualties.

Most of Ukrainian UAVs, 20 drones, targeted the border Bryansk region. As a result of the attack, an apartment building was damaged in the city of Bryansk. Ukrainian drone also destroyed a private house in the Starodubsk area. A child was killed in the destroyed house.
