On February 28th, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continued their daily massive strikes on the rear infrastructure across Ukraine. Every night, Ukrainian territory is targeted by about two hundred Russian drones and missiles.

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in total, 28 Russian kamikaze UAVs and decoy drones targeted Ukrainian territory last night. Ukrainian air defense allegedly shot  down 107 UAVs. 97 other drones miraculously disappeared inflicting no damage. Thus, according to the Ukrainian military, only four Russian drones reached their targets. At the same time, Kiev confirmed damage in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv and Zaporozhie regions. The wet dreams of the Ukrainian military rarely correspond to reality, and Russian strikes are heavily pounding Ukrainian infrastructure, while the depleted Ukrainian air defense fails to protect it.

Yesterday, day and night, Russian drones and missiles struck targets in the Donbass, Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Kherson regions, near the cities of Pavlograd in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Zolotonoshe in the Cherkasy region, near Kremenchug in the Poltava region, in the Vinnytsia, Kiev, Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions, Mirgorod and Lubny in the Poltava region, in Mykolaiv and Kamensk.

Another wave of massive strikes began on the evening of February 27th with devastating attack in the Kharkiv region. At least 12 explosions thundered on the outskirts of Kharkiv.

One of the targets of the strikes was the Kharkiv combined heat and power plant (CHP-5) located near Podvirky village. This is one of the largest energy supply facilities in the Kharkiv region, which came under at least three drone strikes last night. As a result of the attack, the third power unit of the station was stopped, the gas supply and power transmission lines were damaged.

Another target destroyed by Russian strikes in the Kharkiv region was the large depot with rockets and ammunition of the 14th separate mechanised brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As a result of Russian strikes, depots used for storage of ammunition for M777, PzH 2000, Krab, FH70, M142 HIMARS, M270 MLRS from NATO were heavily damaged.

The border Sumy region came under massive Russian strikes too. According to the head of the city of Sumy, this was the largest Russian attack on the city since the very beginning of hostilities. At least seven Russian strikes were recorded in the city. The local sugar refinery suffered heavy damage. The facility was used by the Ukrainian military to repair armored vehicles, store spare parts, and train crews of mechanized units.

Russian drones also reached the rear Zhitomir region, where the Ozerne military airfield of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, suffered more damage. As a result of the attack, the local engineering facilities were disabled, which significantly limits the technical readiness of Ukrainian combat aircraft. Despite the constant Russian strikes, the Air Force of Ukraine is still using this airfield for combat flights, military supplies and maintenance of military aircraft.
