The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue daily massive strikes on Ukrainian rear infrastructure. The night of November 4th was not an exception.
Kiev claimed that 66 Russian drones were allegedly shot down and one missile was intercepted by air defense forces.
The Russian military rarely officially acknowledges the results of strikes in Ukrainian rear regions. In today’s report, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that “operational and tactical aviation, kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops and artillery of groups of troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation defeated the infrastructure of Ukrainian military airfields, power engineering facilities and an oil refinery used to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine, production workshops and storage of unmanned boats, accumulations of manpower and military equipment of the enemy in 132 districts.”
Explosions thundered throughout the country. Russian strikes with both drones and missiles were reported in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk, Zhitomir, Kirovograd regions as well as in the capital of Ukraine Kiev.
The capital is coming under Russian attacks daily. Today, a large fire broke out in the city of Kiev as a result of the drone strikes, some damage was reported on the outskirts. According to local reports, Russian kamikaze UAVs struck the Hope Island in the city, where the German-made Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft gun was destroyed. At least two Ukrainian soldiers were reportedly killed and four others were wounded. The fire broke out aas a result of the explosion of the ammunition. It was confirmed by the footage from the city.
The southern Odessa region came under another wave of Russian strikes. The local ports, cargo ships, warehouses and logistics hubs used by NATO and the Ukrainian military for supply of Western weapons to the war-torn country are pounded by Russian drones and missiles on a regular basis. On the night of November 4th, another attack was reported in the Izmail port, where some port infrastructure suffered more damage.
Another target of today’s attack in the Odessa region was the 198th training center of the marines hidden in the village of Topolinoe located near the border town of Bolgrad. According to local reports, the Ukrainian military lost about 20 servicemen as a result of the precision strikes of Russian drones, which caused significant damage to the military infrastructure and caused fire.
Along with dozens of kamikaze UAVs, the Russian military used Iskander-M tactical missile complexes and heavy bombs to destroy targets in the strategic Ukrainian rear areas.
The Russian Aerospace Forces launched another wave of strikes on the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. One of the targets was the Rost shopping mall located in the Shevchenko district. Russian FAB-250 heavy bomb reportedly struck the area right near the building, which suffered heavy damage. Despite Ukrainian claims about Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure, the shopping centers, hotels, post offices and other civilian facilities are largely used by the Ukrainian military for storage and transfer of military equipment, accommodation of Ukrainian and foreign servicemen.
The electricity supply in Kharkiv was disrupted after Russian night strikes. Probably, some local energy facilities were damaged or destroyed.
Missiles of the Russian Iskander-M complex struck the Asphalt Concrete Plant in the village of Svyatovasylivka in the Dnepropetrovsk region. The strikes damaged the workshops and local energy facilities, caused fire at the plant.
Russian strikes were also reported in the Poltava region, where the Mirgorod military airfield reportedly came under another attack.
The intensity of Russian strikes does not subside. As a result of constant precision attacks, Ukrainian military, industrial, logistics and energy infrastructures suffer heavy damage. Their facilities are overloaded and can no longer perform their tasks. Ukrainian officials are again crying that the energy system of the entire country was critically damaged. Some experts suppose that the collapse of the Ukrainian energy system may play a decisive role in the conflict.
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched massive strikes on large Ukrainian energy stations that provided for the needs of military plants and other industrial facilities. The last massive missile attack on the energy infrastructure was recorded back in late August. Since then, there were constant pinpoint strikes on various energy stations, mainly in the eastern and central regions of Ukraine.
According to Western media, Kiev was willing to agree with Moscow on mutual suspension of strikes on each other’s energy infrastructure. According to the British Financial Times, the sides were preparing for negotiations through the mediation of Katar. Another report was published by German Die Zeit, according to which some non-public talks on mutual concessions were already ongoing between Ukrainian and Russian political officials. moreover, the topics discussed by the two sides allegedly include not only strikes on energy infrastructure but also some strategic issues like the fate of the Crimean peninsula. While Moscow is unlikely to discuss this topic with Kiev or any other sides anymore.
Both Moscow and Kiev officially deny any secret negotiations. Meanwhile, the intensity of Russian massive attacks on the Ukrainian strategic energy infrastructure decreased in recent weeks. This may be another concession by Moscow aimed at allowing Kiev to provide its population with more electricity in the upcoming cold weather.
