The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are effectively destroying the Ukrainian military with precision strikes both in the war-torn regions and deep in the strategic rear areas. On the night of October 17, Russian forces launched new wave of strikes throughout Ukraine.
At night sirens sounded in northern and central regions of the country. Russian Geran-2 kamikaze UAVs and Kh-59 cruise missiles destroyed targets in the Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kiev and other regions.
The capital Kiev came under attack after a short pause of about two weeks. Explosions thundered both in the city and in the Kiev region.
In the capital, Russian drones struck the territory of the summer camp Zvezdny which belongs to the Ukrainian Youth Aerospace Association ‘Constellation’. The camp is located on the northwestern outskirts of the city. As a result of the strikes, a large fire broke out in the area and the infrastructure of the camp suffered heavy damage.
According to Russian reconnaissance, the facilities of the camp hidden in the forest area were used by the Ukrainian military, presumably the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, as the backup headquarters. Any losses in the high ranks of the Ukrainian military are yet to be revealed.
According to local reports, a series of explosions thundered in the area of the Borispil airport that was turned into a logistics hub for transfer of foreign weapons and military equipment.
Russian strikes also destroyed hangars in a farm near the town of Protsev in the Kiev region. They were used for storage of UAVs by the Center of tactical training ‘White Wolfs’ of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to preliminary reports, more than 200 UAVs of various types were destroyed as a result of the strike.
Russian forces continue precision strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure aimed to disrupt electricity supplies to and operation of military and industrial facilities across the country. Last night, Russian kamikaze drones struck the Pobugckaya 330 station located near the town of Dolgaya Pristan in the Mykolaiv region. As a result of the strikes, the station suffered heavy damage.
Russian strikes continue pounding Ukrainian military reserves accumulated in the border Sumy region. Russian monitoring sources confirmed the destruction of the point of temporary deployment of the 36th separate marine brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the village of Korshachina. As a result of the drone strikes, the unit suffered heavy losses in manpower and military equipment. Another strike targeted the village of Rechki in the same Sumy region, where servicemen of the 71st mobile military hospital deployed their base in the local hospital. As a result of the strikes, a fire broke out in the facility.
More Russian strikes on Ukrainian military facilities were reported in the Kharkiv and Vinnitsa regions. More details about the targets of the strikes are yet to be revealed.
In their turn, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted drone attacks in Russian border regions. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, at night, Russian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 13 Ukrainian UAVs. In particular, six UAVs were destroyed in the Oryol region, 14 more drones were destroyed in the border Kursk region and three others were destroyed in the Bryansk region. No damage was reported in Russian regions as a result of the strikes.
