Ukraine continues plunging into darkness. Since the early morning of October 31, dozens of Russian missiles and drones have hit military and energy infrastructure facilities across the country.

Today’s missile strikes on the energy system were called “catastrophic” at an emergency meeting of the Ukrainian government in Kiev. The power grid of Ukraine, although with the maximum voltage of generation and transformer substations, already failed to provide electricity throughout Ukraine, but today it almost collapsed. So far, more than forty key facilities of Ukraine’s power grids were hit, including the largest facilities like DneproGES, Yuzhno Dniester HPP, Kanevskaya and Kremenchug HPP.

Ukrainian officials claimed that 18 targets were hit on October 31, while “the Air defense forces destroyed 44 of the 50 cruise missiles fired by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine this morning”, according to the Air Forces of Ukraine. It is not clear how Russian forces manged to hit 18 facilities with 6 missiles. Kiev continues to hide the losses, but it can no longer hide its lies.

During the day, explosions were reported in at least 8 Ukrainian regions, including Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Zaporozhie, Poltava, Kharkov, Kirovograd, Lviv regions.

The confirmed targets include strategically important energy facilities.

About a dozen of missiles targeted the Kiev region. The targets reportedly included the CHP-5, CHP-6, Vushgorod substation which is linked to the Kiev HPP.

The New York Times published a video showing the strike, which reportedly took place in Kiev:

Due to damage to the energy infrastructure in the capital of Ukraine, about 80% of residents remain without water supply and at least 350 thousand apartments in the city were left without electricity, the mayor of the city Vitali Klitschko claimed.

“The specialists of Kyivvodokanal are working to resume the water supply as soon as possible. Due to damage to an energy facility near Kiev, 80% of the capital’s consumers remain without water supply,” the mayor wrote in Telegram.

He added that the city also has services necessary for restoring power supply. According to Klitschko, there are about 350 thousand apartments left without electricity in Kiev.

There are already long queues near the pump stations in the capital:

Dozens of the towns in the Kiev region were also cut of water and electricity supplies.

At least two explosions were reported in Kharkov. According to local reports, one of the targets was the Zalytino substation. After the strikes, trams, trolleybuses and subway stopped working in the city, the street light was turned off in some districts.

One of the strikes hit the Kanevskaya HPP in the Cherkasy region. The HPP was used to compensate for the energy shortage in the Kiev region, as well as to supply electricity to the east of the country through the Kremenchug HPP in the city of Svetlovodsk in the Kirovograd region, which was also shelled. Strikes on the stations reduced the electricity supplies to the industrial areas in Krivoy Rog, Cherkasy, Poltava and partly Kharkiv regions.

There was an explosion at the DneproGES in the Zaporozhie region, which is the largest hydroelectric power station in the country. One of the strikes reportedly hit the 330 kV Pravoberezhnaya substation connected with the DneproGES. Wherever the missiles hit, the HPP suffered significant damage, since it will still be extremely difficult to use it at full load.

The Novodnistrovskaya HPP in the Odessa region was also hit, according to local reports. Explosions were reported on the Lviv CHPP in Lviv.

Dniester HPP-1 was hit in the Chernivtsi region. This is the most powerful power plant on the Dnister cascade. It is one of the main sources of energy in the south-west of Ukraine.

Damage assessment continues in Ukraine. However, it is clear that Ukraine does not have the necessary resources to restore the work of the power system even in an emergency mode. Most of substations of 330 kW have already been damaged or destroyed. Russian forces are already targeting the 750 kW stations that receive electricity from Ukrainian nuclear power plants. However, these stations are almost useless without the necessary transformers which are regularly targeted by Russian forces.

Ukraine is on the verge of an energy collapse and the next wave of missile strikes may finally plunge the country into darkness.

Odessa will be liberated

Hmm, but now I am confused. I really thought By November you would be ‘giving Kuril Islands back to Japan’, and now we have November and you are holding a candle, staying in a long queue to get water.. What is going on? The plans changed?!

You forgot also that by end of March Russia was to run out of missiles … and soldiers. Ukraine having killed 60,000 in the first day alone!

Tally Ho

Today, Ukraine shot down 120% of incoming missiles that Russia ran out of too.

“Slava Ukraine” narrative is already gone. Soon the public support for military and government will follow. Military and government without public support is doomed

Medved

Unfortunately it can go the other way, uniting the people behind their lousy government and against the invaders.

You have been watching too many Hollywood propaganda movies about Nazi pride.

Darkness, thirst, cold, no roads, no way to export or import anything not even through the Bîstroe canal, this is how they should soften the terrain for liberation.

Once the Russian army will bring back civilization and water, warm homes, food and order the Ukrainians might wake up.

Exactly.

Comrade

So bringing in the guys who are murdering and torturing Ukrainians will bring back power and water? You think Ukraine finds that acceptable?

Michel LeBlanc

Ukraine has renounced its statehood after what it has done the the people of the Donbass for the last 8 years.

Who the hell shoots tochka u with cluster munitions at civilians 20 miles away from the front?

Your argument is stupid, as it tries to hide what ukraine has been doing to LDNR these last years. We aint that stupid here chump.

How is staying in line for 2l of water, douchebags?! Does your NATO masters worth you enduring this? Quess what: they will abandon you like they did with the Afghans etc. You will be asking Russia for life support and mercy, while the menace of war reparations will haunt you forever.

USA owners like Bill Gates are richer day by day as a result of Ukraine destruction.

Beast of Omaha

Yeah baby. Karma is a beetch. NATO destroyed Iraq and Syria at the behest of Bibi Netanyahu and other Zionist masters, how can they cry foul now that Russia is behaving just like them. What is good for the goose is good for the gander, now the shoe is on the other foot. Slava Putin. Slava Bashar hafez al-Asad.

Russia is waaay to soft and candid compared to what USA did in Vietnam, Serbia, Irak, Libia, Siria etc.

Russia is not carpet bombing cities (yet) nor using uranium ammo to cause cancers on multiple generations et.

lol, dumbass American slaves should leave and start their own country inside of USA or UK, maybe even Germany. :D Slavic lands shall be returned to Slavic Russia, they do not belong to the Khazar-Israeli Conglomerate! Oh, maybe they can go live in Erdoganistan since uncle Erdo supports them so much, they can be put to work in factories making more Baryaktars, what more could an Urkonazi want in life??? xD

Rember the Odessa massacre and all that neonazi terror? It’s USA slaves who terrorize the civilian population and keep them hostages to a war no sane human can wish for.

What’s the point? Shutting off electricity and water every few days, and then what? Only fools and horses can expect that rocketing of civilian infrastructure will stop violence and hatred.

US-UKR shelled Donetsk and Lugansk for 8 years wrecking coal mines, electrical substations, water pumping stations and residential housing killing 15,000 civilians. Were you posting you displeasure before Oct. 2022? I bet not.

Everyone knows it's the Jews.

I suggest you read up on the great American General William Tecumseh Sherman. Part of his military doctrine was to make “the south Howl”. When the civilians are deprived of comfort, their support for war declines. Making the Zelensky enablers freeze in the dark will make them reconsider their support for the war.

It may not be safe to be a foreign merc in Ukraine for long. The hungry natives might start thinking of them as kebabs.

“It is not clear how Russian forces manged to hit 18 facilities with 6 missiles.” Thought I’d comment since many are asking this question in other forums.

The Ukrainians claimed they shot down all but 6 CRUISE missiles. The other targets could have been hit with artillery, ballistic missiles, drones or bombs.

Sadly, one has to add a disclaimer due to the world’s overpopulation with irrational partisans: I’m not saying Ukraine’s claim is correct, I have no way to know. Just clarifying what they claimed and how it is not necessarily inconsistent.

Medved

Ukrainians dug out the Black Sea from the land. The bridge over the Kerch Strait is a Russian hoax as it doesn’t exist. The Ghost of Kiev annihilated the Russian air force. Azov Battalion are not Nazis, it’s just they like swastikas and pictures of Adolph Hitler etc as tattoos but don’t even know what they are or what they mean. The troops on Snake Island fought to the death… So maybe the Banderites are correct but some people are sceptical for some reason.

Liar, Liar, Ukraine's on fire.

Ukraine lies through its teeth. The West lies through its teeth. It’s not by chance they found a common purpose.

Ramschel

I don’t get this. Russian military didn’t use drones in the first days/months of the conflict. Didn’t attack electrical stations, didn’t blow up bridges, didn’t target railway stations, and all that is done to prevent other side in offensive action. Today Russian military use (in most cases) modern tactics for modern warfare, but the question remain, why they didn’t use that in the beginning? That would prevent so much casualties on their side, and would end conflict much faster in their favour. Things long term grinding is exhausting. Russian army should use modern training for their officers. Those field officers are backbone of any army. They have to be trainforf modern warfare needs.

Putin wanted to be nice to the Ukrainians so the activities of the military were severely restricted. He figured they would be sensible enough to start honouring the Minsk Agreements when the tanks were lined up around the borders. Then certainly they would have begged for surrender when the tanks rolled in, but no. All he wanted was to keep NATO out (but EU was fine), no NATO nuclear missiles, no Ukrainian dirty bombs, no genocide against the Donbass, so it seemed reasonable to him. It wasn’t reasonable to Ukronazi money and weapon launderers backed by Soros and Washington. So here we are.

7-even-N-6

Very well said. If people of the west would absorb and understand your paragraph just take a few minutes to grasp the simplicity of what Putin and Russians desired. Nothing that Putin demanded was unreasonable, on the contrary Putin in the Minsk agreements stated that the Donbass would remain part of UKRAINE!!!! How could Putin be a usurper of land when he denied Lugansk and Donetsk integration into the Russian Federation since 2014 to Feb 2022..

7-even-N-6

Keep in mind the complexity of this military operation. There are 11 million Ukrainians living in Russia and of course millions of ethnic Russians living in Ukraine. Putin did not want to begin the military operation by blasting away at Ukrainian infrastructure. This would have bought confusion and chaos to an already severely terrorized and brain washed Ukrainian population. Putin had to show the world but most importantly the Ukrainian people that he was speaking from the heart when he stated that Ukrainians and Russians are brothers and sisters, one and the same. He had to make the effort to win over the hearts and minds of the people. This war is unlike any recent war, Putin is dealing with subtleties and I believe his calculated and compassionate initial approach to this conflict has earned him the respect and the backing of countries like India, China, Egypt, etc. I understand your point and many others who ask the same questions but honestly I do not think Russia would be where it is today if it were not for their humane yet effective approach in military conflicts. There was never any doubt of the outcome of this conflict. Russia is achieving all of its goals in Ukraine but in my opinion Russia has achieved much more on an international level literally shaking the entire foundation of the international world order. Look at the desperate, useless terrorist attacks being carried out by the west. The empire of lies literally has no shame and certainly not a drop of honor in the way they conduct themselves in combat. Lie after lie, deception and treachery is all they know.

FJB

If Starlink is the only way for the ukrainian army to communicate on the battlefield. Then why cannot Russia just trace these signal emissions back to the starlink ground stations? I mean that shouldn’t be that hard right?

“In order for the Starlink Internet to work, gateway stations are installed on the ground. The gateway connects to the satellite, which, in turn, transmits its signal to the terminal dish. To connect to the network, you need a terminal that looks like a small satellite dish, a tripod and a router.”

Using that they could pin point the location of AFU military units, especially command posts that are connecting to the satellites to transmit data.

Russia already did the same thing with regular cell phone networks back in 2017. And in one particularly shocking operation, soldiers’ families received texts stating, “Your son is killed in action,”. Minutes later, artillery struck the location where a large group of cellphones was detected.

Destroying ground stations would discourage their use. Would it not be better to monitor their locations and keep them using it?

I wonder what Zelensky’s approval rating is. Last time I checked it was like 28 percent. That was before the war started.

I haven’t seen a poll on that stat since. It would be interesting to see what the average Ukrainian thinks of this war mongering prick. Especially since he was elected to stop bombing the disputed regions. My guess is the powers in charge don’t want us to know.

Glad to see Phase II of the SMO underway. Putin gave them months to come to their senses, but Ukraine adamantly refused to be anything more than a Western satrapy. So naturally, Russia escalates as needed to achieve its goals; it says alot about their restraint that they waited until now to shut down the power grid. But sometimes, the hard way is the only way, so it’s lights out for Ukraine.

hash
hashed
SoTheyCensoredMe

Restraint? Hmm. They thought they didn’t have to. They thought they we’re just going to roll into Kiev but then they withdrew from Kiev. They should have gone after the grid when they withdrew from the northern area (Kiev region), I think. That would have been the best time to do it. In April. Now it is late but it still makes sense, I believe. But hindsight is 20/20. Looking back now, Feb 24th would have been the day to start attacking the grid. Am I wrong?

If Russia thinks that the support for Ukraine will diminish with the Russian bombing of civilian infrastructure, they are wrong. Beloppet is a quote from the EU Commission.

“Russia’s missile and drone attacks on power stations and other civilian infrastructure in Ukraine are “acts of pure terror” that amount to war crimes, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on October 19.

“Yesterday we saw again Russia’s targeted attacks against civilian infrastructure. This is marking another chapter in an already very cruel war. The international order is very clear. These are war crimes,” von der Leyen said in a speech to lawmakers in the European Parliament.

For more than a week, Russia has repeatedly targeted civilian and infrastructure targets across Ukraine that have killed dozens of people and have disabled almost one-third of the country’s power stations, cutting electricity in more than 1,000 cities, towns, and villages.

“Targeted attacks on civilian infrastructure with the clear aim to cut off men, women, children [from] water, electricity, and heating with the winter coming, these are acts of pure terror and we have to call it as such,” von der Leyen said.

She adderad that the EU support for Ukraine Will continue for long as it takes. “
