On Thursday, the Pakistani Army freed in a special military operation a US-Canadian family that was held captive by the Taliban since 2012, according to an official statement of the Pakistani Army. The freed hostages are Canadian Joshua Boyle, his American wife Caitlan Coleman and their three kids.
The Pakistani Army revealed in its statement that the operation was launched thanks to information provided by the US intelligence. According to the statement, the US intelligence tracked the family inside Afghanistan, and on Wednesday reported to the Pakistani Army that the hostages were moved across the border into the Kurram tribal district of Pakistan.
“The success underscores the importance of timely intelligence sharing and Pakistan’s continued commitment towards fighting this menace through co-operation between two forces against a common enemy,” the Pakistani Army statement said.
From its side, US president Donald Trump welcomed the Pakistani Army operation, and descript it as a “positive moment” for the US-Pakistani relationships.
“The Pakistani government’s co-operation is a sign that it is honoring America’s wishes for it to do more to provide security in the region,” Trump added.
The operation can be considered as a huge improvement in the US-Pakistani relationships. Trump even claimed that one of the US Army generals told him that Pakistan a year ago “would’ve never done that” for the US.

More likely they were asked by the Canadian Govt and the intel came via Canada, the US likes to take credit for a lot of things.
