Pentagon Spokesman Warns Turkey From Conducting Uncoordinated Operation In Northeastern Syria

In a response to the recent threats by Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a spokesman for the Pentagon said on October 5 that any uncoordinated Turkish operation in northeast Syria would cause “grave concern” to Washington.

“Any uncoordinated military operation by Turkey would be of grave concern as it would undermine our shared interest of a secure northeast Syria and the enduring defeat of ISIS,” Commander Sean Robertson told the Alhurra TV.

Robertson added that the U.S. is working with Turkey to speed up the implementation of the “security mechanism” in northeastern Syrian .

“We will continue to implement the plan in specific stages in a coordinated and cooperative manner,” the spokesman said.

The U.S. and Turkey agreed on the so-called “security mechanism,” last August. The agreement is supposed to address Ankara’s security concerns in northeastern Syria, which is controlled by the Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Erdogan expressed his dissatisfaction with the agreement and threatened to launch a military operation in the region at any day.

The U.S. objection of any military operation in northeastern Syria will for sure hinder Turkey’s plans. Washington has hundreds of service members in the region. Some of them are even deployed along the border with Turkey.

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

Lol 2 countries that have absolutely no right to be in syria, yet both believe for some reason they do, because the US has always “coordinated” its actions right? Lmao what a joke

Amorphis

I don’t think U.S soldiers are a reason to not launch the operation. There were many U.K soldiers in Cyprus when Turkey launched the operation back in 1975. They just passed them by. Turkey can just do that. As for the ones inside cities; just surrender it, leave them to starvation. They will eventually come out like rats seeking food.

US soldiers’ orders are to remain where they are and continue their US Meat Shield for Israel mission. They don’t get to vote on it.

frankly

Hey there’d be an interesting democracy experiment. Let the troops decide.

…might be still a Dönmeh poodle…

Neither are invited by the Syrian Government to carry out any actions in Syria. Why does the US believe they call the shots?

“…it would undermine our shared interest of a secure northeast Syria and the enduring defeat of ISIS,” say the ISIS sponsors.

Joao Alfaiate

All about israel-just like the rest of US Mid-East “policy”.

frankly

See the US knows all about uncoordinated operations. In fact it’s the only kind they launch. The main out of step ingredient. Morality

Stopping Isis. An Hegelian statement by the US if I ever heard one.

And coward US already surrendered to the beastErdogan, they said if… they leave their friends to be raped by the savage Turks and their house terrorists. And afterwarts the Kurds will be deluded by millions illegal migrants and erdogan breaded jihady terrorists

verner

is syria entitled to start operations in the northeast – yep they sure are! and with the bridge being built in deir ezzor the road is open for attacks from the south straight into the northeast heartland and straight into the lair of the kurds, pkk, sfa and other kurdish groups – so, from the north there will be turkey, intent on clearing out the kurds, and from the south there will be syria/russia intent on clearing out the kurds. wonder where the unhinged morons of America will be or go. the safe zone will be the unsafe zone just as the israeli iron dome soon will be the iron doooooom kabooooom hohoho…

Tommy Jensen

I warn Turkey that any action inside Syria could lead to unexpected and unknown consequences. I urge Turkey and especially Erdogan to refrain from violence and to try to talk it over with the Kurds one more time than no time. I express my concerns to the world about the whole story. Hereafter it is up to others.
