People Leaving Eastern Aleppo to Be Monitored Real Time Via Web Cameras and Surveillance Drones

People leaving eastern Aleppo would be monitored in real time via web cameras and surveillance drones, Russia’s Lt. Gen. Sergey Rudskoy said during the press briefing on October 19.

The footage will be aviable on the Russian Defense Ministry’s website.

Russia and Syria also took measures (airdropped leaflets, loudspeakers, mobile phone text messages and through Internet) to inform Aleppo residents of the opportunity to leave the city.

Eight humanitarian corridors are opened in Aleppo:

  • 6 – for civilians to leave and humanitarian aid deliveries
  • 2 – for militants rebels, who would be able to leave armed. One corridor is in the direction of Turkey-Syria border and another one leads to Idlib.

Russia has also extended by three hours the humanitarian pause in Aleppo planned for October 20.

“On October 20, starting at 8am, a humanitarian pause is to be introduced in Aleppo to allow civilians to escape and sick and injured people to be evacuated, and for militants to leave the eastern part of the city,” Rudskoy said.

Russian and Syrian warplanes would not approach Aleppo closer than 10 km during the pause.
