Peshmerga forces repel ISIS attack in west Kirkuk

It is reported today that Kurdish Peshmerga fighters in Kirkuk province have repelled an ISIS attack on Peshmerga positions.

The Rudaw news websites said that today’s attack was targeted at Peshmerga fighters who took positions in Krawa villages of west Kirkuk.

A Peshmerga commander Colonel Sawareh Tawfiq said that ISIS terrorists used foggy weather to attack the well prepared Kurdish fighters.

He added that the Peshmerga repelled the attack, killing several ISIS terrorists.

Since ISIS terror offensive began on June 2014, the northern and western parts of Iraq have been plagued by violence. The US-led coalition started its operations allegedly hitting ISIS, although many believes ISIS is a creation of the west.

However, Iraqi army soldiers and fighters from Popular Mobilization Units  and Peshmerga are seeking to win back ISIS held regions in joint and separate operations.
