On February 12, the Abkhazian Network News Agency (ANNA) released photos revealing the losses Turkish-backed militants sustained in their recent failed attack on the town of Nayrab in southern Idlib.
The attack was launched by al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the National Front for Liberation (NFL) a day earlier. The Turkish Armed Forces provided the militants with fire support.
ANNA’s photos show the remains of several militants and their equipment scattered around Nayrab. According to pro-government sources, more than 40 militants were killed in the failed attack on the town.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) reportedly allowed the militants to advance into the town’s center before besieging and neutralizing most of them. The Turkish Ministry of National Defense rushed into announcing the capture of Nayrab. However, opposition sources confirmed that the town was still under the control of the SAA.
The attack on Nayrab is an example of the ever growing coordination between Turkey and Greater Idlib militants. Ankara had committed to stabilize the region and expelled the radicals as a part of Sochi agreement. Nevertheless, the opposite happened.
