best time to hit the enemy is when they are all together and preparing their attacks any kurds still have more than a single cell between the ears?

Barba_Papa

Except the Kurds have no means for beyond their own lines interdiction of enemy supply lines and troop build ups. Well, they did have one, but I reckon the USAF is not going to do it for them this time. That leaves them with not much else to use but harsh language. Expect more angry videos of them ranting at the Russians for abandoning them to come in the near future.

Promitheas Apollonious

the houthis have even less than them and look at them what they achieving. The means they have them even if they dont have air force, though I have a feeling if the americans are out according to the french and Macron, are there to face the turkish invasion and I am sure the french have air cover among other toys.

Barba_Papa

But the French do not have the capability to maintain such a military deployment for long. Nor support it in any kind of numerical way that the US can. There’s a reason why the French have been trying to cling to the broad military muscles of the US and why the Americans are basically supplanting them as the main military power in Francophone Africa. Too many Al Qaida brushfires, not enough military means to extinguish them all. Decades of military cutbacks have now come home with a vengeance, and a few hundred troops on the ground and a handful of aircraft in the region is not going to deter on of the largest armies in the world.

Also the French are in enough economic dire straits as it is and Macron is unpopular enough to add war with Turkey to his problems already. He is not Poroshenko who tries to fan the flames of war with a neighbor who he claims occupies parts of Ukraine in order to ride the coat tails of nationalism. The French don’t give a fuck about Syria or the Kurds. Fighting ISIS, yes, but fighting Turkey? What the hell for?

Promitheas Apollonious

time will tell you the error of your thinking. They had no business,(french) been in Mali either but they are there for years getting killed and none mention it , either.

Barba_Papa

A: They are not fighting the largest non-US NATO army there in Mali but some Al Qaida allied militia. Operations are low key and the occasional body bags can be safely politically ignored. If Turkey invades and kills French troops and shoots down FAF aircraft there will be a lot more shit hitting the fan back home for Macron. And B: why aren’t they fighting in all those other Francophone countries in Africa where the US is now setting up shop to fight Islamists?

A US military presence in Francophone Africa? Former French presidents like De Gaulle and Mitterand are spinning in their graves from indignation.

Promitheas Apollonious

A: with all due respect you have no idea what you saying about Mali. The rest I dont understand what you talking about and I am with the impression you dont know french mentality and how they think..

Promitheas Apollonious

they have ten times what the houthis have.

occupybacon

So you can compare Turkish army with Saudi’s lol, or the terrain…

Barba_Papa

No, at least the Houthis still have ballistic missiles, which they can use to target Saudi infrastructure and troop concentrations. The Kurds on the other hand are hard pressed to conduct simple terror attacks against the Turks in Afrin, consoling themselves with uselessly targeting FSA Orcs instead. Their only means of battlefield interdiction was the USAF. They lose that they have nothing, njet, non plus, niks, ganz und gar nichts, to stop and interrupt a Turkish troop buildup.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

That’s quite a lot of vehicles and equipment, it’s looking like it’s going to be pretty full on when it happens. There’s also been a heap of equipment/vehicles and troops heading north to somewhere in between Ar Raqqah and the Al Hasakah on the Turkish border. We might have a simultaneous 2 pronged attack from the Turks instead of them just attacking from 1 front. No slow heavy tanks that I could see, maybe the Turks have learnt faster lighter vehicles will be better against the Kurds and their guerilla warfare tactics.

humanistola

I hope not, and you?

Willing Conscience (The Truths

If you’re asking which side I’m backing I’d say Assad’s, but since the Kurds fate is now tied in with Assad, them too, but Russia is my biggest concern, I want them to win out here more than anything else, and didn’t want to see the Saudi pipeline built. But I don’t dislike the Turks either, just the ones following Erdogan on his quest to revive the Ottoman Empire.

Officialmadara

Main battle tanks are on syria already. Most of em are on border.

Barba_Papa

And they’re only now bringing up their infantry fighting vehicles? Wow, I’ve not seen this levels of incompetence since Rommel kicked the British arses in North Africa again and again and again. You never send in tanks alone. Combined arms, people, that’s how you win wars.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

The more the merrier they say.

Potato Potato

MBTs are still incredibly useful. Lets see the Cobra taking out buildings…

Willing Conscience (The Truths

I watched all the early footage of the SAA using the Russian tanks to smash Isis to pieces for the first few weeks but then Isis began learning, then I started watching those same SAA tanks that were smashing Isis to pieces start to get smashed to pieces in return, in the end they had to stop using them because they’d become both ineffective and vulnerable at the same time. Lets see if the slightly more modern Turkish tanks can do any better, I will add that the Kurds will have much better weapons and equipment than Isis did though, and be better supplied too.

me again

No Leopards either. I just wonder will SAA just close eyes and ears or will protect Syrian territory?

Officialmadara

Leopards are already on syria, afrin and al bab

Reza Rezwani

Ask Russia and Putin,

Γιάννης Καράς

Shame on Russia-USA…

Hmm. Still the over-reliance on MRAPs. They’re good an’ all, keep the shell splinters out of your coffee, but in asymmetric warfare IEDs will skittle them as the houthis have shown – they might as well be Sherman tanks. And the kurds are good at IEDs. One assumes the Turks will use them better than the Saudis do in Yemen (i.e. drive to a high point, park on skyline, and wait for kornet to arrive).
