The LG-1K is developed by Logistic Gliders Inc under contract with DARPA and the U.S. Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory. The plywood and aluminum drone is expected to be a low-cost decision capable of being released from fixed-wing aircraft or helicopter: MV-22 and CV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft, KC-130, C-130, and C-17 transports, and MH-60, UH-60, CH-53, and CH-47 helicopters.
The drone is 3.9 m long and has a 8.3m wingspan. The LG-1K can carry up to 725 kg of supplies. Logistics Gliders anticipates the cost of each drone at approximately $4,500 to $11,000.
According to Popular Mechanics, so far the dron has flown twelve missions demonstrating its ability to glide—in some cases autonomously—to a landing zone with GPS precision.
The LG-1K could be used to support ground troops in various conflcit zones, delivering supplies to forces conducting patrols away from a forward operating base.
Looks like something knocked up in a school project.
Actually they are not. Semilar ones was used in Normandy landing the special troops. I admit those were made of plywood and only could glide and was one-timers.

i understand the pentagone is holding a competition for paper plane makers. kids up to the age of 20 are being asked to send in their paper glider designs. the paper glider should be capable of carrying a big mac + fries, the pentagone said.
Different kinds of ideas are develloped all over the world. Its a very big marked for the civile market as well as for fun.
This is a good idea – a cheap, single-use air supply system built with very basic materials. It will malfunction quite often though, dropping the supplies to ISIS instead! ;)
it’s function will be to deliver the supplies directly to the ISIS. because that is what uncle samuel does.
I never thought of that before:
Samuel (sometimes spelled Samual) is a male given name and a surname of Hebrew origin meaning either “name of God” or “God heard” (שם האלוהים Shem HaElohim) (שמע אלוהים Sh’ma Elohim). Samuel was the last of the ruling judges in the Old Testament.
Meaning: “Name of God”
Word/name: Hebrew
Related names: Lemuel, Sam, Sammy, Saman…
Nickname(s): Sam, Sami, Sammie, Sammy
AKA Uncle Shmuel…
uncle samuel!
Not even 3 years old being told that having candy in each hand and told by grandparants believe that.
notice the duct tape
Notice, the beautiful settled weather ?.
Yerrh, You probatly use sunglasses even in dark or never use.
Wow, they are stealing the jihadi design! (And getting better) or the jihadis drones offensives against khaimenin were a series of test of this project?
Actually an interesting concept
Can you imagine if any one of (((Washington)))’s enemies were to unveil such a design? You wouldn’t hear the end of it in their media making fun of it.
YES WE CAN: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_glider
Those are not for speed but cargo. The bottom help the wings.
You didn’t get the point of my comment.
He never does!
Yes I did. Enemies first reaction often is like that. Then they sometimes rapidly copy it.
Haha. Good idea. No risk for pilots and inaccurate para shooting. Long distance might be fine for sending ISIS to Antarktis.
So when will they send in the tablesaw?
