Iraqi forces continued their advance in Al-Shifa district in in the western part of Mosul on Friday. Some Iraqi Army units managed to reach the fifth bridge area south of Al-Shifa district. However, the Iraqi forces have not yet been able to secure Al-Shifa district because of multiple attacks from ISIS fighters.
Iraqi forces are also working to evacuate civilians from the Old Mosul area that remains a key ISIS stronghold in western Mosul.
According to local sources, more than 100,000 civilians are still trapped in the Old Mosul. This explains the slow advance of Iraqi forces there.
Meanwhile the Iraqi Army announced the liberation of the villages of al-Zanazil, Abu Kaddur and Kanisa located east of the road between Al-Kasik and Al-Mahalibiya west of Mosul.
A source from the Iraqi Army confirmed that the operation in eastern Tal Afar continues. The Iraqi army aims to liberate Al-Mahalibiya village east of Tal Afar before heading to liberate Tal Afar town.
The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) repelled an ISIS attack on its positions in the Iraqi desert west of Mosul.

During the clashes, the PMU killed and injured a number of ISIS fighters, and downed an ISIS drone.
On Friday, the PMU announced that a group of its fighters managed to advance behind ISIS lines in the Iraqi desert and to rescue children who lost their mother during their escape from ISIS-held area. The PMU fighters managed to rescue them and return them safely to their mother.

The Kurds and US label the PMU as heartless and every other name under the sun with intentions to harm the people of Iraq , yet we see they are true men of courage and heart in a world of chaos and madness gone astray . They went behind enemy lines to rescue these children from ISIS . Bravo ! PMU!

You get a bit confused. PMU are fighting with American weapons and with US air support against ISIS.
They were to a certain extent but they are Iranian backed and led in general and will assist the SAA in Syria once invited.
They fight with a variety of weapons , they are armed that way and they have Iraqi air support and not US/Coalition air support as much , many of their weapons were left by the retreating Iraqi Army under Saddam which we call ISIS now . The Kurds fight with Russian weapons but are backed by the US what was your point .
In the 2nd and 3rd pictures, that huge turret coming out of what appears to be humvees …. that can’t be an M2 browning, can it? Seems too big and thick for an m2
The thick part is barrel shroud/jacket that M2s usually don’t have (and if they do it looks different, with circular holes). The rest of the gun is hard to see, except for the notable lack of front sight. The whole thing looks like some local workshop hack.
