Pokrovsk And Velikaya Novoselka Threatened With Encirclement. Russian Army Ready To Enter Dniepropetrovsk Region

Russian forces are continuing their steady advance on the front line of the Special military operation. According to reports from Ukrainian telegram channels, the Ukrainian forces are holding only the “Toretskaya” mine in the northern part of the city of Dzerzhinsk (Toretsk). In Shcherbinovka and Petrovka the fighting is positional. The resistance of the AFU in this direction is not weakening. There is also an advance of Russian troops in Chasov Yar, but the Ukrainians are trying to counterattack. In the area of the “Severny” microdistrict they are trying to retake the railway station building.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reports the following about the losses of the AFU:

“Units of the “South” group of troops took more advantageous lines and positions and defeated formations of two mechanised, motorized infantry and airborne assault brigades in the areas of the settlements of Konstantinovka, Markovo, Podolskoye, Orekhovo-Vasilevka, Minkovka, Yantarnoye, Kramatorsk, Dachnoe, Kurdyumovka, Sukhiye Yaly and Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

AFU losses amounted to more than 220 servicemen, four armoured combat vehicles, including two US M113s and one French VAB, two vehicles and four artillery pieces”.

In the direction of Vremyevka, attempts continue to encircle the town of Velykaya Novosyolka. Video footage of the planting of the Russian flag in the village of Neskuchnoye by units of the 5th Army has appeared on the Internet. To completely eliminate all consequences of the Ukrainian counter-offensive of summer 2023, Russian troops need to capture the settlements of Novopol, Pyatihatki and Lobkovoye. Supply routes to Velykaya Novosyolka were effectively cut off. Country roads and fields to the north-west of the town remained available to supply the garrison. With constant Russian artillery and drone attacks, logistics are deteriorating.

The Russian Defense Ministry is focusing on Ukrainian artillery losses in the area.

“Units of the “East” group of forces continued to advance deep into the enemy defense and liberated the village of Neskuchnoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Two mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian armed forces and three territorial defense brigades were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Konstantinopol, Velikaya Novoselka, Novopol, Bogatyr, Vremyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Novodovarovka in the Zaporozhe region.

The AFU’s losses totalled up to 220 servicemen, seven vehicles, two artillery pieces, including a Polish-made 155 mm Krab self-propelled artillery unit”.

A tactical advance of Russian troops towards Oskol has been recorded. At the western end of the Dolgoye forest, two kilometers west of the village of Makeyevka, Russian fighters flying the tricolor have been seen. A major offensive in the area of Krasny Liman and the forests to the north is unlikely. The terrain is not very suitable. However, tactical improvements in the Russian positions are being made almost daily. There are reports of an advance from the village of Ivanovka to Kolodezi. But the consolidation of the Russian troops is out of the question.

The problems of the AFU in the direction of Kupyansk are noted. The Ukrainians do not have enough forces and capabilities to stop the expansion of the Russian bridgehead in the area of Dvurechnaya and Kalinovo. Russian forces are moving heavy equipment and ammunition to the western bank of the Oskol River. All this threatens the villages of Kondrashovka and Zapadnoye. South of Kupyansk, the Russians are expanding their bridgehead near Sen’kovo. A clearing operation is underway in the villages of Zagryzovo and Zelenyi Gai. They are trying to take Kupyansk with pincers. This is already a traditional method of the Russian command. The operations to take Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) and Velykaya Novoselka are being carried out in exactly the same way.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also reports the capture of the village of Terny in the Donetsk People’s Republic and heavy losses suffered by the AFU:

“The two mechanized, assault and airmobile brigades of the AFU and two territorial defense brigades were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Dvurechnaya, Zapadnoye, Zagoruykovka, Boguslavka, Lozovaya in the Kharkov region, Ivanovka and Torskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Enemy losses included up to 600 soldiers, one tank, eight armoured combat vehicles, including two US M113s and one Turkish Kirpi, 13 vehicles and five artillery pieces, including two from NATO countries. Three ammunition dumps and four electronic warfare stations were destroyed”.

In the direction of Pokrovsk, the city of Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) continues to be largely surrounded from the south. The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported the capture of the village of Peschanoye. The advanced detachments reached the outskirts of Zverevo. There are reports that the motorway between Kotlino and Udachnoye has been physically cut. We should expect fighting for these settlements in the near future. Fighting is taking place for Uspenovka and Nadezhdinka. Three small villages remain to be occupied before reaching the western administrative border of the Donetsk People’s Republic and entering the Dniepropetrovsk region: Uspenovka, Novoaleksandrovka and Novosergeyevka. Photo reports of the hasty construction of fortifications in the east of the Dniepropetrovsk region are circulating on the Ukrainian Internet. But many soldiers question the quality of the work being carried out.

According to a Russian military summary:

“Units of the “Centre” group of forces improved their position along the front line and defeated the manpower and equipment of five mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian armed forces and two brigades of the National Guard in the areas of the settlements of Shcherbinovka, Shevchenko, Dzerzhinsk, Slavyanka, Novovasilevka, Ukrainka, Solenoye, Vozdvizhenka, Petrovka, Lysovka, Petropavlovka and Novelizavetovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

The enemy lost up to 500 soldiers, an armoured combat vehicle and two vehicles. Eight field artillery pieces were destroyed”.

In general, we can speak of the gradual exhaustion of the Ukrainian military mechanism. Among the captured AFU fighters there are very often people of pre-retirement age. During the fighting for Dzerzhinsk (Toretsk), a soldier of the 100th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Aleksandr Shevchenko, was captured. He is 53 years old. He was recruited in the Khmelnytsky region. In his battalion, the majority of the soldiers are over 50 and unfit for service. The unit’s morale has been undermined by heavy losses. A large number of soldiers are deserting. This situation reinforces Washington’s desire to force the Kiev authorities to lower the age of mobilization from 25 to 18. This will allow the AFU command to theoretically count on 1.68 million young men to replenish the army.
