Late on January 16, two separate attacks targeted pro-government troops in the southern Syrian governorate of al-Quneitra.

The target of the first attack was Ahmad al-Mujabel, a local fighter of the National Defense Forces (NDF). He was killed when an explosive device ripped through his vehicle in the town of Qsaybeh in the southern part of al-Quneitra.

Late al-Mujabel was active in the NDF’s Golan Regiment, a unit with supposed links to Lebanon’s Hezbollah. The Israeli intelligence may have been behind his assassination.

Another attack, which took place before the assassination of al-Mujabel, targeted a police patrol. Unidentified gunmen opened fire at the patrol as it was passing in the town of al-Samadaniyah al-Gharbiyah.

As a result of the attack in al-Samadaniyah al-Gharbiyah, a police officer, 1st Lit. Muhammad al-Abdullah, was killed and two other policemen were injured.

The neighboring governorate of Daraa experienced dozens of similar attacks on government troops and local fighters over the last year. Terrorists cells were behind most of the attacks.

The violence in Daraa and al-Quneitra is threatening the stability of Syria’s southern region. The Damascus government is yet to take serious measures to address this problem, which appears to be growing rapidly.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

The Israelis, LOL, there’s much more chance it was one of the local Sunni opposition groups, or even soldiers from the 8th Brigade.
