On September 22, the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) launched a security operation against ISIS cells in the northern countryside of the city of Tal Afar in northwestern Iraq. The field reporter of the PMU media wing said that the villages of Misht al-Khanzir, al-Suayiyah and Tuyuat were cleared as a result of the operation.
“The security operation was launched after receiving information about movements of ISIS elements in these areas,” the PMU’s reporter added.
Earlier, the 53rd Brigade of the PMU carried out a similar security operation to clear several mountains and valleys in the southern Tal Afar countryside. Abu Huraira, commander of the 53rd Brigade, told the PMU media wing that two ISIS fighters were killed and two others were injured in the course of the operation.
The Iraqi military and the PMU liberated the region of Tal Afar last year after a fierce battle with ISIS. Back then, many terrorists managed to escape from the region among displaced civilians. These elements are now trying to reorganize themselves and launch attacks on Iraqi government forces.

I imagine that the PMU is a confederation of pro-Assad militias? Either way, one can imagine why Europe has problems with their refugees when many incidents like this happen with soldiers from all sides.
Assad is governing in Syria, the PMU are in Iraq. Europe has problems, because like yourself, they have no idea of who is friend or foe.

You’ve been napping too long on a bed of coins and crowns, I think. This article is about Iraqi Shia militias who support the Iraqi government currently led by failed Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi. They are engaged, as stated in the article, in combat operations against ISIS remnants inside Iraq, a country lying next to Syria on Syria’s Eastern border. Hence they have little to do with President Assad or Syrian refugee flows to Turkey or beyond Turkey, towards Europe.

Al-Sadr is a grandstander who wants leverage over other Shia power centers. To his credit he’s consistent in that he wants no U.S. basing or passage through Iraq either. As for his Assad hatred I believe it flows from Al-Sadr’s extreme Shia beliefs that hold that Alawites are not true Shia. These doctrinal issues are confusing to say the least and I don’t dwell on them or care much. It’s like sitting Southern Baptists and Catholics down together here in the USA to talk about the Virgin Mary. All kinds of hellish chaos ensues…

Now that the pro US Iraqi politicians are being deposed I am sure that the Iraqi oil will be again be the property of the Iraqi people again in due course. The first priority is to remove all vestiges of the US military and their political control from Iraq.
