According to Deputy Defense Minister of Russia Anatoly Antonov Russian Military Bases in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are in constant alert to respond to negative developments in the region.
Antonov noted that Russia was assisting Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in securing the Afghanistan border in the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). The measures included assistance in the armed forces modernization and military personnel training. He stressed that Russia would and further assist Tajik Army by supplying weapons and military equipment.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry press-office reports, Antonov said Russia assigned a priority to developing the military and technical cooperation with Tajikistan.
