Did Russians just announce the entrance of Terminators to the Syrian battlefield? Perfect for busting up jihadist in running fight through the desert. I wouldn’t be in their shitty pants when this baby starts singing…
ISIS armour is trying to engage Syrian armour on their way to Deir Ezzor and south east, these Terminators would make the work a lot easier, their Akata missiles would fry the ISIS junk, and their 30MM guns would clean up the desert from infantry remnants and their Toyotas.
These babies are product of Chechen wars experience and a future of armor warfare. They are optimized to protect armor against light infantry armed with ATGMs. Also they can fend off any surprise attack on supply convoys – and these will become more common in days to come now the SAA is working it’s way to Al Bukamal.
They are great in urban warfare, and a great addition to armored units increasing the fire power of direct engagement against enemy tanks. With the introduction with T15 you bould basically have the same firepower, better protection and the ability to move motorized infantry in tandem with tanks.
what I don’t get is if these vehicles are currently attached or deployed with the Russian Naval Infantry unit in Khmeynim. I did not know that they were actually accepted for operational service in active units. It would be interesting to see how are they encadred in their parent organization.
From what I remember reading this Terminator based on a T-72 platform was developed as a weapon that could take care guerrillas in urban warfare, and at the same time have great presence in an armored battle. This Terminator suffered the same fate as the T90, where production was limited in favor of the Armata platform. A Terminator based on the Armata platform is in the works, which would be more capable and protected than this one. I think the Russians are a little cautious in showing their hand, this Terminator would have been great in the battle of Aleppo. The same way they slowly deployed the T-90 tanks in Syria, followed by the Terminator. Terminators work in tandem with tanks, in urban warfare 2 or more Terminators per tank, in an open field 1 Terminator per tank.
yeah, I know more or less the technical aspects of the vehicle, I was more interested in tactical and organizational considerations. I was initially inclined to think that they worked with 1 Terminator platoon attached to every tank company, but if what you describe is correct than they’d put 1 company of terminators alongside 1 of tanks in the same batalion level command.
That seems a little heavy to me, although it’s not easy to follow all the latest developments in this subject, especially when considering that Russian ground forces have reformed much in the field of organizational flexibility.
Also good for a special use at the so-called border to “Israel”…..exactly following the border line with little breakout in direction of the zionists….
