Russian businessman, owner of the Concord Catering group, Yevgeny Prigozhin officially confirmed that in 2014 he created a group, which later became known as the Wagner PMCs.
On September 26, Prigozhin answered the question of Russian journalists why he stopped denying his links to the Wagner Group:
“I have been avoiding the blows of many opponents for a long time with one main goal — not to substitute these guys, who are the basis of Russian patriotism. And I won this case in numerous courts, including abroad, because in any case there should always be a place for sports and matches should be won on the opponent’s field,” Prigozhin said.
Prigozhin said that in 2014, “when the genocide of the Russian population in the Donbass began,” and “at the last moment Russia managed to block the arrival of the Ukrainian army in Crimea,” he, along with “many other businessmen,” tried to “recruit a group that would go and protect the Russians.”
“But I realized very quickly that among all these “Cossacks” and other paramilitary comrades, half are scammers, and half of those who took money, hired volunteers and sent them naked, barefoot to real death. Then I flew to one of the polygons and did it myself. I cleaned the old weapons myself, sorted out the bulletproof vests myself and found specialists who could help me with this.
From that moment, on May 1, 2014, a group of patriots was born, which later acquired the title of battalion tactical group “Wagner”. It was solely thanks to their courage and bravery that the liberation of the Lugansk airport and many other territories became possible, and the fate of the LPR and the DPR radically changed,” Prigozhin said.
According to him, after that, for eight long years, “every curious journalist and every shameless bastard aired dirty laundry of the Wagner PMC in an attempt to find negative stuff.” At the same time, “these guys are heroes who defended the Syrian people, other peoples of Arab countries, disadvantaged Africans and Latin Americans, have become one of the pillars of our Homeland.”
Today, the Wagner Group is fighting in the fiercest battles on the Ukrainian front lines. PMCs are one of the most combat ready units of Russian-led forces who continue successfully pushing Ukrainians out of their positions in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Prigozhin also came to the front lines to support his fighters. Amid the ongoing mobilization in Russia, a lot of volunteers attempt to join the Wagner Group and take part in the war in Ukraine in its ranks.

Protocol Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, and relating to the Protection of Victims of International Armed Conflicts (Protocol I), 8 June 1977.
Article 47 [ Link ] – Mercenaries
1. A mercenary is not entitled to combatant or prisoner of war status.
2. The term “mercenary” means any person :
(a) who is specially recruited in the country or abroad to fight in an armed conflict ;
(b) who in fact takes a direct part in hostilities;
(c) who takes part in hostilities primarily for personal advantage and who is actually promised, by or on behalf of a Party to the conflict, material remuneration substantially in excess of that promised or paid to combatants of similar rank and function in the armed forces of that Party;
(d) who is neither a national of a Party to the conflict nor a resident of the territory controlled by a Party to the conflict
(e) is not a member of the armed forces of a Party to the conflict; and
(f) who has not been sent by a State other than a Party to the conflict on official business as a member of the armed forces of that State.
So “Wagner” isn’t technically a mercenary group then. The question naturally arises as to where this PMC is incorporated (Russia, Ukraine, or elsewhere), how this squares with Russian laws against “mercenaries”, and precisely what legal and remunerative structure the PMC maintains, and what its legal relationship is to the Russian state.
It’s quite well known fact that Wagner group are at least partly mercenary style war criminals. Decent Russian should never worship them at all. During WW2 Soviet partisans was build from 3 kind of people: local patriots, communists and criminals. Wagner group seems to have 3 kind of people: local patriots (worshipping military) , Red-Brown Russian fascists and thugs (Russian Gangstas).
Nothing is a “quite well known fact” about Wagner, you’re full of shit and CNN garbage. And change your avatar to Joe Biden’s pic you lame twat.
I wonder how many PMCs are fighting on both sides? I started wearing my poppy early this year.
Here’s the Wagner PMC’s theme song:
