Support SouthFront

Pro-Saudi forces have started a new military operation aganist the Houthis movement in western Yemen following a conflict between the Houthis and forces loyal to former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh in the country’s capital, Sanaa.

Saleh was killed during clashes in Sanaa on December 4. However, the tensions between his supporters and the Houthis remained. Pro-Saudi forces used them to launch own advance and already captured the area of al-Khokha near Maqbanah.

“…Saleh was killed during clashes in Sanaa on December 4. However, the tensions between his supporters and the Houthis remained…”

What Saleh supporters? Nobody helped that filthy-rich, corrupt backstabber in Sana’a including most of the Yemeni military there – he had to rely on his personal thug army, his presidential guard and a few hundred mercs the UAE trained and sent in. The Houthis in Sana’a are busy burying Saleh and his ‘supporters’ remains right now so they can get back to exterminating the Saudi/UAE invaders. Saleh’s supposed popularity is a fiction of western MSM, just like Hadi’s supposed popularity.

“…Pro-Saudi forces used them [Saleh supporters] to launch own advance and already captured the area of al-Khokha near Maqbanah.”

I have to laugh about the ‘Saleh-supporting locals’ the UAE is supposedly using. They probably consist of the town drunk, some guy that just got out of prison and a one-legged 70-year-old that eagerly took the $1 to show the UAE mercs what road to take.

Saudis are a minor player in the Yemeni land invasion. It’s the UAE that wants to have bases all up and down the Red Sea coast and own all the shipping lanes. They’re not in Yemen to ‘help’ any kind of remotely legitimate Yemeni government, they just want to occupy the entire Yemeni coast and nearby islands. They’re willing to sacrifice as many of their foreign mercs and kill as many Yemenis as it takes to make that happen. Why are they so obsessed with the Red Sea coast? Ask Israel and the US…

“Why are they so obsessed with the Red Sea coast? Ask Israel and the US…” Because its a check point! When u travel to different airports u pay airport taxes! This is why certain gateways are so important to empires! Example “Suez Canal” “Panama canal” “straight of hormuz” “straight of Gibraltar” “singapore” “bab al- mandabab straight” controlling these Narrow but extremely important shipping routes gives a nation political importance and protection PLUS tax income! (like a check point) Maritime law dictates what taxes / fees and routes a particular nation can use and how much they pay! Some nations can even be banned from those routes!

UAE is the 3rd most richest country in the world per head of population! they are waging war through paid proxy armies for geopolitical advantages! Perhaps there are pipelines being proposed between Yemen and Africa. Who knows! Human life means nothing to UAE! This is why any houthi missile that successfully hits UAE is gonna be a HUGE win for Yemen! It won’t be safe to do business in UAE any more!

Djibouti on the other side of the straight is seen as a very important location. SA and China now have small military bases there. And China is investing billions in infrastructure; improving the port, new rail link to Ethiopia, etc. Russia also has interest north of the horn of Africa.

yeah I agree! I think Trump had it lifted!
