Pro-Turkish Militants Repelled ISIS Attacks & Went on Offensive to West of Jarablus

The situation in the evening September 1, 2016, according to the official version of the Euphrates Shield command

Turkish-led forces have repelled attacks of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group and again went on the offensive to the west of Jarablus. On September 1 morning, The Turkish Air Force hit IS positions near the villages of Zavgar, Kullyah, and Sabuniyah, making breakthrough of the IS defense in these areas. The Т-155 self-propelled artillery weapons fired on IS facilities from the territory of Turkey.

By noon, militants have taken control of the villages of Zavgar, Qunli, Kullyah, Sabunji, Sabuniyah and Tall Aghar, throwing the IS to the west on 4-5 kilometers. At the south there was a threat of a roundup by the IS terrorists, who had smashed through the area near the settlement of Yakubia the day before. For this reason, militants started to retreat to the west along the Sadzhur River. Sources noted a significant role of Turkish military and air power in repelling the IS counterattacks.

The morning attack of the Turkish coalition against the IS, September 1, 2016

There are intense battles against the IS at the western flank, near the town of Ar-Raya. Fighters of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) said that they have recaptured settlements, lost the day before, but this information still cannot be confirmed.

Relative calm is maintained on the front line between the Euphrates Shield and Kurds. However, at nights there also are firefights. The sides’ positions did not change in the last two days; the front is still passes along the banks of the Sadzhur River. It was reported that pro-Turkish militants, allegedly, crossed the river and captured some part of the territory, controlled by Kurds, to the south of Halwanji, but this information remained unconfirmed.
