Imad Abu Zriq, a prominent commander of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), has returned from Jordan to the southern Syrian governorate of Daraa and joined the reconciliation process, Syrian opposition activists revealed on January 15.
Abu Zriq led the US-backed Revolution Army for about two years, during which he barely participated in any attack on the Syrian Arab Army (SAA). Last year, when the SAA launched its final attack on the opposition’s positions in southern Syria, Zriq made several threats and vowed to fight until death. However, he run away to Jordan when the army began the real advance on the ground.
According to the activists, Zriq return is a part of a Russian-Jordanian plan to pressure former FSA commanders into joining the reconciliation process. The plan is aimed at using the influence of these local commanders to establish new pro-government forces under the command of the Russian-backed 5th Corps.
The upcoming weeks will witness the return of more FSA commanders to southern Syria. This will likely lead to more stability in the newly-liberated region.
So where will Assads burrry him.
Bad PR. When other headchoppers see they can surrender and have a life again they’re far more likely to do so then when they see their former comrades get killed.
Will it, it didn’t work out to well when they were here last time, I think they should just leave him where he is.
Willing, SAA is in perpetual process of building up since 2015, the Tigers are returning to Idlib after a pause of a couple of months, and Suheil just won the Order of Suvorov ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_Suvorov ), the Hama’s Front, and not only that front, is showing new guns and new capabilities of th SAA. I think that we are going to have some surprises in the Idlib’s offensive that will soon start. More, this offensive isn’t now just in Idlib, because all the Front Zaara, al Bab, Manjib has been incorporated in SAA’s nortwest Front.
Hi jorge, yes the SAA has been beefing up for sure, heaps of Russian artillery with long range is in all the right spots and no shortage of manpower, it’s looking more than good, it’s looking like another cakewalk for the SAA. The only thing that’s surprised me so far is why they haven’t started already, stuff the lazy FSA stragglers, just hit them hard and fast and take out anyone who gets in the way, FSA, NFL or even the Turks themselves if they’re stupid enough to get caught in the crossfire, 3 to 4 weeks from the moment they do HTS is gone forever. Strike while the irons hot and their throats exposed, there will never be a better opportunity than now. I think the surprise in store for everyone is just how quickly and easily the SAA and Russia will destroy these retards, especially if Erdogan puts the boot in as well and reclaims some territory from HTS while they’re being savaged by the SAA. Cheers jorge.
These scum need to be shot on sight.
The disciplinary platoon to the scum is an very old russian (and not only russian) tradition. The French, by their side, have the Légion Étrangère, etc., etc.
Regrets in human heart must be respect. Even though very serious vigilant approach should be apply to avoid regrets.
