Protests In Lebanon As Government Says Work On Disarming Hezbollah Began (Videos)

The Lebanese military will begin implementing its plan to disarm Hezbollah, information minister Paul Morcos said, following a government session on September 5.

Ministers from Hezbollah, as well as the allied Shiite Amal party and an independent Shiite minister, Fadi Makki, withdrew from the session after the arrival of military chief, Gen. Rudolph Haikal, who presented the plan.

“The Lebanese army will begin implementing the [Hezbollah disarmament] plan, but in accordance with the available capabilities, which are limited in terms of logistics, material and human resources,” Morcos told reporters.

The minister noted that the government had decided to keep the details of the military’s plan to disarm Hezbollah a “secret.”

Morcos also slammed Israel for not implementing its commitments under the ceasefire brokered by the United States last November.

The Israeli military continued to launch strikes against Lebanon after the ceasefire came into effect. It also maintained five strategic posts in the south of the country, which is the heartland of Hezbollah, despite that the agreement clearly required a complete withdrawal.

“Israel, like Lebanon, has clear obligations” under the agreement, Morcos said. “However, its continued violations constitute evidence of its reneging on these obligations and seriously threaten regional security and stability.”

Following the government’s announcement, thousands of Hezbollah supporters in the capital, Beirut, and the south took to the streets in their cars and motorcycles to protest the disarmament plan.

Hezbollah faced much criticism from the government and its opponents in Lebanon for starting a confrontation with Israel to back its ally Hamas after the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip nearly two years ago. The group took heavy losses, with nearly all of its leadership assassinated, and with the U.S.-brokered ceasefire it began to face unprecedented international pressure.

After the government decided in August to pursue a disarmament plan in line with a U.S. proposal, or rather a demand, Hezbollah vowed to fight to keep its arms.

This stance has not changed apparently. Following the government’s statement, Hezbollah parliamentary member Hassan Ezzeddine reiterated “the unwavering position of the resistance regarding its weapons.”

Speaking from the south, Ezzeddine criticized the government’s recent decision “aimed at disarming the resistance,” calling it “reckless, misguided, and dangerous.”

He also urged those responsible to reconsider, warning that they would bear responsibility for its consequences and noting that the focus on “disarming the resistance reflects misplaced priorities,” particularly in a country facing deep crises.

In addition, Ezzeddine reaffirmed that Hezbollah “will never give up its weapons, under any circumstances.” He also praised the withdrawal of the Shiite ministers from the government session, describing it as “a unified and principled stance,” and commended Shiite Minister Fadi Makki for raising the possibility of his resignation.

The Lebanese government’s statement clearly condemns Israel for not fulfilling its part of the ceasefire agreement. However, it does pose a real danger for Hezbollah as it could be used by Israel as a pretext to resume war. In any case, the group will likely prefer to go to a new fight over handing over its arms.

violations amount to war crimes | women and girls raped in al-suwaidaa during the bloody july events
sohr renews its call for formation of an independent un commission to investigate grave violations in al-suwaidaa

sohr has documented seven cases of rape targeting women and girls during the bloody events that took place in al-suwaidaa city and the countryside last july.

Mia

the most recent was a horrific incident in which a minor girl was repeatedly harassed by several members before being raped by a foreign fighter affiliated with the ministries of defence and interior. the crime left the victim suffering from severe psychological trauma.
sohr also obtained forensic medical reports confirming that the victims were subjected to sexual assaults by members of the ministries of defence and interior and their affiliated forces

Mia

at the same time, 11 other rape cases are being investigated by forensic medicine in al-suwaidaa, in addition to information about other victims whom the syrian observatory for human rights has not yet been able to reach or verify, due to social customs and traditions that prevent disclosure of such crimes out of fear of “shame.”
sohr affirms that, under international humanitarian law, rape is classified as a war crime.

Mia

accordingly, sohr stresses that these grave violations necessitate the formation of an independent un investigative committee tasked with collecting evidence and testimonies and directly overseeing the investigations to ensure that the perpetrators do not escape justice and that all those involved are held accountable, regardless of their positions or affiliations. sohr also calls for psychological and social support and special protection to be provided f

destruction of churches and shrines | sohr documents blatant violations during july’s bloody escalation in al-suwaidaa

Mia

christian civilians in al-suwiadaa have experienced blatant violations during the latest bloody escalation in the province in july, where nearly 40 christian families from al-omran roundabout and the western neighbourhood in al-suwaidaa city have been forced to displace, after the houses of those families were burnt down and/or looted.
this escalation shocked the entire syrian society in a

Mia

l-suwaidaa province, especially since it came as a part of systematic violations against minorities and forced families to displace.
with the increasing displacement, st. philip the apostle church, the evangelical church, st. michael church in al-surah al-kubra and st. paul church in rudaymat al-liwaa have been turned into resettlement centres hosting tens of displaced christian families.

protectourfreedumbs

worse things happen at sea. worse things happen in gaza.

Mia

meanwhile, the syrian observatory for human rights have confirmed that at least eight churches came under attack during july’s bloody escalation in al-suwaidaa. the attacks included artillery fire, gunfire, burning and looting.

here is a list of those churches:

michael church in al-surah al-kubra.

paul church in rudaymat al-liwaa.

protectourfreedumbs

sohr = mi6. the jooz have destroyed every christian church in gaza.

Mia

the holy cross church in ta’ara.

church of the annunciation in al-mazra’a.

george church in al-duwayra

al-majdal village’s church.

church of the capuchin fathers.

the greek orthodox bishopric in al-suwaidaa.

this came as a part of systematic attacks targeting christian figures with the aim of spreading panic and force christians to displace from the province.

Mia

the attacks also targeted the following shrines and spiritual religious councils of the druze community:

the shrine of al-sura al-kaberah village.

the shrine of prophet abel in al-sura.

the shrine of abu abdullah mohamed ibn wahb al-qurashi in al-suwaymarah.

the shrine of al-khidr in labin.

the shrine of prophet david in al-majdal village.

the religious council in al-majdal village.

the shrine of al-khidr in sami’.

Mia

the shrine of al-khidr in najran.

religious council in haret tarabiyah.

the shrine of prophet seth in zukair.

the shrine of sheikh abdullah in beit jinn in western rif dimashq near mount hermon.

those violations bring to mind previous attacks that targeted joint religious figures among different sects, which mirrors efforts to stir up strife and undermine social cohesion in al-suwaidaa and western rif dimashq.

Mia

the syrian observatory emphasizes that the repetition of attacks on churches and religious shrines in a short time and the forcible displacement of tens of christian families remain an evidence of the systematic policy to clamp down on religious minorities.

sohr also stresses that the local authorities’ silence and inaction regarding the protection of christian places of worship and civilians raise concerns about expanding the scope of violations and destabilize

Mia

religious diversity in a province historically known for coexistence. https://www.syriahr.com/en/369302/
the day will come very soon when the hts will burn down the lebanese churches.

thanks to the castrated botox puppet putler.

why blame vlad? why not blame the people who paid the head choppers’ $1,500 a month wages – the jooz, the jewsa/ jewu/ jewk?

of course lebanon will try to disarm. it is a tiny poor country and hezbollah, as a paramilitary, unfortunately, showed it cannot win against israel and its western backers.
