On March 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a televised address to the nation adressing coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns and the decline of the global economy.
The President announced a number of economic and social measures needed to contain the COVID-19 outbreak and stimulate the social and economic sphere amid the global crisis. He also announced that the referendum on the constitutional reform planned for April will be postponed.
A special attention was paid to the measures needed against financial speculations and outflow of the capital in the current conditions. In particular, Putin proposed to increase the tax on the withdrawal of dividends to foreign accounts from 2% to 15%. He emphsized that Russia will withdraw from international organizations that would oppose this approach.
Amid the global COVID-19 outbreak, Russia remains one of the most protected countries around the world with 469 cases only and a strong healthcare prepared to contain the pandemic. Additionally, Russia is actively providing assistance to the most affected countries. Just recently, the Russian Defense Ministry deployed a COVID-19 response team to Italy and medical equipment and specialists continue arriving.

Don’t go outside if you suffer from hay fever otherwise you might get lynched. It’s good to be prudent around the elderly, the very young and the frail, but to lock everyone down in their homes and feed them horror stories is overkill.

Very interesting economical moves proposed by president. Every national leader is obliged to participate in this global virus advertisement game but everyone is acting differently. Putin is using this situation to increase level of sovereignty and at the same time some redistribution of wealth from reachest 1% to the rest of Russian population.
LOL…Russia needs OUTSIDE capital investment for its future growth and economic well-being. Russia needs all those international financial, trade and currency organizations for its economic well-being. All of these are mostly controlled by the US and its economic allies. LOL…sure. We should believe the old Soviet KGB operative now as we did back in the day. Every larger country that started off in this kind of official denial went on the CORVIS-19 fast track. It will by Russia’s turn next month. But Russia faces a double whammy, from the Virus (that was just as likely a Russian bio-weapons bug accidentally released from the Chinese bio-weapons lab in Wuhan as Wuhan’s yum yum bats and snakes) and stupid economic decisions made by Putz Putin himself. For example, picking an oil price war at the very worst time and giving Siberia’s natural gas away to China well under the cost of production based on a price tied to the price of oil. The Putz is not to sharp at these things, it seems.
So far it’s the United States on the fast track. The World Health Organization warned yesterday that cases in the U.S. are accelerating and that the U.S. is in danger of becoming the epicenter of the pandemic (the so called pandemic, in my book. It should be accurately referred to as the low percentage pandemic, as in it infects a small fraction of 1% of the population even in the most hard hit countries.) Your prediction about Russia being in deep doo doo is again so far laughable as Russia continues to weather this event far better than the U.S. or even most of Western Europe. Ten days to go of your two week prediction that Russia is doomed and your assertion is still hiking down the baloney trail.
Seems to me it is either very active Asian/Aussie/French flu (H3N2) or some sort of highly contagious Avian flu… Probably from Polish poultry.
