Putin Awarded 10-Year-Old Hero Fyodor With Medal For Courage

On March 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded Fyodor Simonenko, a ten-year-old resident of the Bryansk region, with the Medal “For Courage”. The decree states that the award was given “for courage, bravery, and selflessness in the performance of civil duty”. LINK, LINK

On March 2, Ukrainian saboteurs crossed the Russian border and attacked a small village of Lyubechane in the Bryansk region. Ukrainian Nazis fired at the civilian cars which were passing along the road near the village. As a result, at least two men were killed in their cars.

The boy Fyodor was going to school with two other small girls in one the cars which was fired at by Ukrainian Nazis. The man who was driving the car managed to escape from the ambush and drive several kilometers after he was heavily wounded by Ukrainian fire. The man died of his wounds.

Fyodor saved the lives of the girls. He took them out of the car and helped them to hide in the forest, despite the wounds he suffered.

The boy was hospitalized. During the surgery, a lot of Russians expressed their support to the young hero. On March 3, Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin ordered to award Fedor with the departmental Medal of Valor and Courage for heroism and self-sacrifice.

Fyodor’s mother said that her son has always followed the example and was proud of his brothers, who are now bravely fighting on the Ukrainian front lines.
