Qatari Foreign Minister: Saudi Arabia May Invade Qatar

On November 17, Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said during a visit to Washington that Qatar does  not rule out the possibility of a Saudi-led military operation against it, according to the Iranian Alalam TV.

The Qatari foreign minister said that Qatar is well prepared for the Saudi attack. Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani added that Qatar has enough “friends” to stop Saudi Arabia from taking such steps.

“Although Qatar hopes this will not happen, Qatar is well prepared and can rely on its partners to defended it, including France, Turkey, Britain and the United States, which have a base in Qatar,” said Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani.

On November 19, Qatari Minister of State for Defense Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah stressed that Qatar is ready to face a Saudi attack during an interview to the Qatari state TV. Khalid Al Attiyah revealed that this is not the first time Saudi Arabia planned to invade Qatar.

According to Khalid Al Attiyah, Saudi Arabia was massing its army on the border with Qatar between 2013-2014, and planning to launch a military operation against Qatar. However, former Saudi Arabia king Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud ordered the Saudi Army to withdraw.

“In 2013\2014 I was an eye witness when Saudi Arabia king Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud ordered Prince Muhammad bin Nayef [former Saudi Crown Prince] to pull off the soldiers that they massed on the border [with Qatar],” Khalid Al Attiyah said.

These Qatari statements confirm that the tension between Qatar and Saudi Arabia is still higher than ever. Many experts believe that the only thing that’s keeping Saudi Arabia from invading Qatar now it the US al-Udeid airbase in Qatar.

This is just another prime example of how IDIOTIC Saudis are. Qatar has a US base and they wanna invade it?? LOL!!!!

Barba_Papa

Threatening to invade is part of diplomacy. Brinkmanship diplomacy, but that seems to be in character with MBS. Would be fun though if it happened. Two major sponsors of Jihadi terrorism fighting it out. Then again fun is the wrong word as people would die needlessly. Interesting perhaps? A good diversion? After all Saudi Arabia getting involved in yet another military adventure in the Persian Gulf would mean less chance of Saudi Arabia getting involved in yet another military adventure in Lebanon.

Thegr8rambino

Yea maybe they think they will fare better in Qatar. I don’t see it happening tho lol

Barba_Papa

MBS seems to have incredible confidence in the capabilities of the Saudi military. Which leads me to think he has no clue as to its real capabilities. That he lives in a protective bubble where real reports don’t reach him. That’s a dangerous place to live in, the same thing happened to Saddam Hussayn, who actually thought he stood a chance against the Americans in 1991, when his heavily armed army could barely defeat the Iranian army that was crippled by sanctionsjust years before.

Which makes you think, how can a man who lives in such a shielded information bubble mass and exert so much influence? At least Saddam was already entrenched as a dictator, MBS still hasn’t sealed the deal yet.

Thegr8rambino

Yes he is in for a rude awakening if he thinks he is gonna get everything he wants :)))

Barba_Papa

Insanity is doing the same thing all over again and expecting different results. Then again methinks the Qatari army is probably as shite as the Saudi army, so who knows? Rich Gulf Arabs love to play with expensive toys but are shit at doing actual work. Or fighting.

Thegr8rambino

If the ho u this can beat back Saudis I’m sure Qatar is can too

Barba_Papa

The Houthis are well motivated buggers who are used to hardship. It’s all they know really. The Qataris are spoiled rotten Gulf Arabs and the only hardship they know is the one they inflict on their Indian, Pakistani and Philippino guest workers. They’re bullies. Bullies don’t know how to fight, only to bully others.

Only if the US approves it, and it may, for the USN is not going anywhere. However, if the Iranians come to the aide of Qatar then US will invade as it did in the Panama invasion.

Thegr8rambino

I don’t think US is gonna be doing anymore invading like Iraq anymore fortunately

Solomon Krupacek

better do not think :)

Thegr8rambino

” Qatar is well prepared and can rely on its partners to defended it, including France, Turkey, Britain and the United States, ”

QATAR’s world history education is as limited as US historical knowledge it seems :)

MH370

u trust the west to defend you ? really ?

Rodger

It’s a warning that they better get some Western support or they’ll switch to camp Russia/Iran completely and ask the US to please vacate the base so they might give it to Russia or China.

Brother Ma

There is no way qatar could get yanquis out unless americans chose to go.

Rodger

They probably couldn’t force them out. But formally, officially and publicly asking them to leave and the US refusing does more harm than the US would want. And then daily protests at the gates where the US shoots civilians? PR nightmare.

Brother Ma

I kniow how stupid! The fact thathe base is there would scare me.us french etc all more pro saud traditionally than pro qatar.

I fact that is why they went there in the firsr place : it was to keep them in line!

MeMadMax

At this time you would be way better off with the russians/chinese.

dutchnational

Qatar, a family ownened country of 200k people with 1.8 mln “guestworkers”, one could say almost slaves.

Maybe a coalition of indian, philipino and some others can take over this large slave camp and start a more modern society, expelling the local wahhabbis.
