Militants are amassing near the northern Syrian governorate of Aleppo, chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Conflicting Sides in Syria Maj. Gen. Yury Borenkov revealed on December 12.
According to the Russian commander, the militants are deploying heavy weapons in the outskirt of Aleppo’s city center, as well as in the governorate’s southwestern countryside.
“Russian surveillance means detected, over the last two days, the deployment of rocket launchers and armored vehicles by illegal armed groups near the city of Aleppo and the town of Abu al-Duhur in Idlib,” RT quoted Maj. Gen. Borenkov as saying.
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) liberated Aleppo’s city center in 2016 and the Abu al-Duhur airbase, which is located on the administrative border with southwest Aleppo, more than year later.
A day earlier, opposition sources revealed that Turkish-backed militants are deploying anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) launchers along Idlib’s administrative borders with southwest Aleppo.
These developments suggest that the militants are preparing a large-scale attack in southwest Aleppo, or even on the city itself. Such an attack is highly possible due to the suspension of major SAA operations in Greater Idlib.

Hopefully this means that the offensive on Western Aleppo will start soon. It’s the same scenario like with the Northwest Hama offensive in May. There were also reports that the Jihadis were amassing forces, then the SAA launched the offensive. Securing Aleppo city is the most important thing for me now.
The terrorists seem to redeploy to whatever area isn’t being covered, like slimy rats slipping through a rat-trap.

Well Russia don’t just sit there talking about It! DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! You now know the positions of these guns and enemy now bomb them while they are still setting up. Get them before they start. Sheesh! It’s frustrating to read these reports and not see anything done about it immediately. I want to read articles that say ‘the enemy amassed troops and heavy guns and equipment but we immediately bombed them and destroyed their capabilities of launching an offensive’. Don’t bother talking to me until they are all destroyed. Actions speak louder than words.
