Support SouthFront

Zvezda TV of the Russian Defense Ministry released a video showing an afterburner takeoff of the MiG-35 fighter jet.

On December 12, the Russian Defense Ministry released a video [original in Russian] revealing capabilities of its most advanced lightweight MiG-35 fighter jets. The MiG-35 is currently undergoing flight tests. The fighter jet is expected to enter into service by 2020 and replace previous generation jets in the Russian Aerospace Forces.

The fighter jet can climb up to 17,500 meters. Its operational ceiling is 16,000 meters. At high altitude, the MiG-35 can fly at speeds of over 2,100km/h. The MiG-35’s strike radius is 1,000 km. The warplane is capable of detecting and tracking up to 30 airborne targets at a distance of up to 160km and can hit 6 airborne and 4 ground targets at once.

Sweet.

Dealing with F35’s would be synonymous to clubbing baby seals.

Minimum Take Off Distance – 400.00m https://www.aircraftcompare.com/helicopter-airplane/Mikoyan-MIG-35/375

That is a good capability, useful in third world infrastructure.

Useful during war when airways may be damaged. But 400m is without payload so not entirely practical.

I love this tiny plane. Yes, Su family is formidable – those are actually huge heavy fighters but 29 and now 35 is a sweet little fighter – extremely manuverable, great in a dogfight. It’s not easy to take it down (as it required volley of amraams to down a semifunctional old 29 in Yugoslavia) and it packs a punch 6.5 tonnes of payload. With modern avionics and weapons it is a very capable fighter against F-35 if those attack Russian territory (here their strealthiness doesn’t mean shit) where 35 will benefit from external target designation and if it comes up close and personal in the air – in WVR air combat I will put my money on Mig-35. Unlike F-35, Mig-35 can actually fly.
