‘Resistance’ Fighters Blew Up Five US Supply Convoys All Over Iraq

On April 7, five convoys moving logistic supplies and equipment for the US-led coalition were attacked in western, northern and central Iraq.

The attacks took place as follows:

  • The first convoy was attacked in in an unspecified part of the central province of Babylon. A group calling itself Saryat Qasim al-Jabbarin claimed responsibility for the attack.
  • The second convoy was targeted near the area of Jableh in Babylon. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, yet.
  • The third convoy was blown up in an unspecified part of Babylon. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, yet.
  • The fourth convoy was attacked near the city of al-Ramadi in the western province of al-Anbar. A group calling itself the International Resistance claimed responsibility for the attack.
  • The fifth convoy was targeted near the town of Balad in the northern province of Saladin. The International Resistance claimed responsibility for the attack.

As usual, all five supply convoys were targeted with improvised explosive devices, the weapon of choice for pro-Iranian fighters in Iraq.

These attacks, together with the previous ones, are a response to the assassination of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Deputy-Commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units, and Iran’s Quds Force Commander Qassim Soleimani. The attacks are meant to push US forces out of the country.

Despite sustaining heavy material losses, the US is still determined to keep thousands of troops in Iraq. Due to this, the attacks will not likely stop anytime soon.

This is still nothing like the stuff that went on in the 2000’s where US troops thought they were in the jungles of Vietnam getting sniped and blown up.. and without that feeling they wont ever leave..

Cromwell

Correct, bigger bombs and some good sniper teams required.

Supreme Blyat

Bring it on.

Apparently, there are no US forces driving or protecting these convoys. Iraqi citizens, the reasons why they do it I’m not certain of. I’ve wondered myself why no US deaths were happening with all the attacks, and this reason popped up a few weeks ago.

no body bags shipped for home with apple cheeked american boys inside and then it’s alright. body bags with american youths is what pentagon fear the most since it’s the end of the yankee-twats engagement.

– US agrees to withdraw ‘remaining combat troops’ from Iraq –

Whether this includes withdrawing US forces from Syria isn’t addressed. But obviously US occupation of NE Syria doesn’t fall within the training and advisory and redeployment of combat forces from Iraq parameters.

Iraq allowing its territory to be used as a staging and support base for occupation and attacks on it’s neighbors makes it an aggressor violating international law. When clearly the Syrian government and Syrian government coalition aren’t engaged in hostilities or subversion against Iraq.

Lobogris

Yes, and so I was thinking the the Iraqi government is allowing of encouraging these attacks. Were these convoys indeed headed to eastern Syria?

RichardD

The difference between Syria and Iraq is Syria has help that isn’t causing terrorism. The US, Israel and the GCC are responsible for the terrorism in Syria and Iraq. The US and Israel are also fueling the terrorism in Turkey.

Keeping even non combat US forces in Iraq is contributing to the terrorism problem. All US forces should be withdrawn.
