Reuters: 131 ‘Russian Citizens’ – Likely PMCs – Died In Syria In 2017

A document seen by Reuters allegedly shows that at least 131 Russian citizens died in Syria in the first nine months of this year.

According to Reuters, the document, a death certificate issued by the Russian consulate in Damascus dated October 4, 2017, does not say what the deceased was doing in Syria.

The certificate has the number of 131.

Reuters claims that they established in interviews with the families and friends of some of the deceased and officials in their hometowns that the dead included Russian private military contractors killed while fighting alongside the forces of Moscow’s ally, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a statement provided to Reuters on October 27: “We do not have information about individual citizens who visit Syria.” The official death toll of military personnel in Syria this year is 16.

The consular document seen by Reuters was a “certificate of death” issued to record the death of Sergei Poddubny, 36. It was one of three death certificates seen by Reuters.

Poddubny’s certificate, which bears the consulate’s stamp, lists the cause of death as “carbonization of the body” – in other words, he was burned.

It said he was killed on Sept. 28 in the town of Tiyas, Homs province, the scene of heavy fighting between Islamist rebels and pro-Assad forces. Several Russian contractors were killed in the area earlier this year, according to Reuters.

Poddubny’s death certificate had a serial number in the top right corner, 131.

Under a Justice Ministry procedure, all death certificates are numbered, starting from zero at the start of the year and going up by one digit for each new death recorded.

you can’t really imply anything.

There are large numbers of Russian citizens among ISIS as well and it’s very likely that they follow this procedure as well.

Of course Reuters came up with a certificate of a citizen with a slavic name.

Also, “in other words, he was burned” – you waited more than a week to talk about the alleged ambush on US forces in Niger, you ruffian.

So, 131 dead Russians…probably mercenaries. At least Moscow admits to them. How many US mercenaries have died? No one knows and the US ain’t telling. How many ISIS have been killed that aren’t Muslim? How many US ‘advisers’ have died with the Kurds? The numbers would probably be shocking, but no one will ever know, will they?

John Whitehot

“probably mercenaries”

that’s a logic step which is not backed by anything. Showing 1 certificate stating that the other 130 (always if the number really means what they say) are mercenaries is absymal journalism and the same kind of baseless anti-russian propaganda that we’ve seen since years.

The top priority of zionist medias in regards to Russian current operations is to assert that they “take a lot of casualties abroad and their government lies about them”.

They are willing to compromise pretty much anything to that mean

The Apartheid State has whispered the number ‘666’ as the amount of Russian casualties, but then again, the number ‘6’ if quite ‘holy’ to the tribe… and not based on facts whatsoever… But, hey… look over there… one of the Cartra$$hians, doing nothing…!

: ) you mean the Kardashans?

Why can’t these be chechens or generally jihadis with russian citizenship?

because reuters is jewish made.

Fake news. Reuters is full of shit, well known for its antirussian priopaganda, and this entire document is very likely falsified (it can be easily done even by amateurs)

Yes I think this figure of 131 will include Daesh members. It is completely natural for a state to record all deaths, even the traitor Daesh characters.

Most of the PMCs on the government side are probably dying of kinetic rather than thermal injuries. The deaths from thermal injuries are probably quite a bit higher among opposition forces.

Reuters hopes to induce fear and doubt within Russia. Fear that we take too many casualties and doubt that our leadership is doing the right thing. Huge wave of pro western propoganda is happening now in Russia – all those ngo’s, bloggers, traditional media and the rest of zio paid traitors. But poll numbers show (even provided by pro western levada center) that people don’t buy this sh$t.

Even if those are all PMC’s than just imagine what kinf of casualties they inflicted on headchopping scum.

Mikronos

We don’t read much about casualties on either side. Unless there is somebody telling the story or taking the photos, the dead and wounded seem to go largely unremarked. From the intensity of some fights there have to be people getting hurt or killed.
