In the Sumy direction, Russian assault groups advanced on 19 sectors in the Kiyanitsa and Khoten areas; overall advance over the past day reached 800 meters. In the Kharkiv region, units of the “North” grouping completed the establishment of control over Kazachya Lopan, while in the Volchansk sector they closed the encirclement of the Ukrainian grouping in the “Volchansk cauldron.” In the Zaporozhye direction, Russian troops captured Chervonaya Krinitsa, breaking through the defense of Ukrainian units, and continuing the offensive on Orekhov, where fighting is underway in the city itself and adjacent settlements. In the Slaviansk direction, Russian units advanced toward Popasnoye, drove the main forces of Ukrainian troops out of Alekseevo-Druzhkovka into Druzhkovka, and are fighting on the approaches to Druzhkovka while capturing the dominant heights. Meanwhile, Ukraine has submitted a new request to the European Union for several billion euros to purchase air-defense assets, including missiles for Patriot systems.
Sumy direction
Fierce fighting continues on all sectors of the front in the Sumy direction. The Ukrainian side is increasing the number of drone crews in an effort to prevent further advances by Russian units.
Russian aviation, artillery, and drone crews delivered strikes against concentrations of Ukrainian personnel and equipment in the areas of Glukhov, Velikaya Pisarevka, Stepok, Gruzskoye, Vakalovshchina, Slout, Novaya Sloboda, Volnaya Sloboda, Baranovka, and Ivanovka.
In the Sumy district, assault groups of Russian units advanced on 19 sectors in the Kiyanitsa and Khoten areas. Overall advance over the past day amounted to up to 800 meters.
In the Shostka district, Russian assault troops continue to advance in the Ulanovo and Tolstodubovo areas.
Kharkiv direction
In Kazachya Lopan, assault groups of Russian units completed the establishment of control over this settlement.
In the Volchansk sector, units of the “North” grouping completed the encirclement of the Ukrainian grouping in the “Volchansk cauldron.”
In the Liptsy sector, Russian personnel are conducting fierce fighting in the Goptovka area.
In the Velikiy Burluk sector, assault groups, supported by artillery and aviation, advanced westward by 800 meters.
In the Slobozhanske direction, Russian troops are fighting in the border area of Kharkiv region. The day before, during a press approach in Bishkek, Russian President Vladimir Putin reported the establishment of control over Kazachya Lopan. Resources of the “North” grouping published footage of the fighting for the village and the raising of flags in its various parts.
After the transfer under control of neighboring Shevchenko and Granov, Russian personnel advanced southward with heavy fighting. Kazachya Lopan is a fairly large border settlement, only slightly smaller in area than the recently captured Volchansk. Although there are no major industrial zones or dense urban development here, the clearance of such a point with small forces is a notable tactical success.
Units of the “North” are engaged in creating a security belt that protects against the penetration of reconnaissance groups across the state border. While on the neighboring Burluk direction the task is almost solved, on the Slobozhanske direction much work remains.
Zaporozhye direction
Troops of the “Dnepr” and “East” groupings continue to develop the offensive on Orekhov, gradually enveloping it. Fighting is underway in the city itself, in the adjacent Preobrazhenka and Novoandreevka; clearance of the area between Orekhov and Malaya Tokmachka is being conducted.
West of Orekhov, Russian units have reached Novopavlovka and are fighting for it. Ukrainian units are counterattacking and attempting to suppress the activity of Russian troops with drone strikes.
Northeast of it, units of the “East” grouping continue to smash the fortified area of Ukrainian forces in the Chervonaya Krinitsa area. Russian personnel broke through the defense and captured this settlement.
In effect, the defense of Orekhov is gradually transitioning to a regime of operational encirclement. North of Chervonaya Krinitsa, fierce meeting engagements are underway for Egorovka, which covers the approaches to Omelnik from the east. With the fall of the latter, the garrison of Orekhov can be considered doomed.
From the northeast, in the direction of Omelnik, Russian units are advancing, breaking the defense west of Dolinka and Kopani, in the area of the Verkhnyaya Tersa River.
Given the advance of Russian troops in the direction of Novonikolaevka further north, the defense of Ukrainian units on this sector of the front remains under critical pressure and is gradually sagging, despite all efforts undertaken to stabilize it.
Slaviansk direction
Fighting near Dibrova and Ilyichevka. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are transferring infantry here from Raygorodok. Ukrainian groups are being identified and destroyed. Aviation is working in support of artillery. The assault on Starodubovka is underway. The situation is complicated by constant Ukrainian counterattacks across the Seversky Donets River.
Heavy meeting engagements near Nikolaevka. Forest belts east of the remnants of Ukrainian groups are being cleared. In the urban area itself, a difficult object is the district of the Slaviansk Central District Hospital. This building essentially constitutes the main Ukrainian strongpoint on the way to the city center. Work continues in Orekhovatka. An advance has been made from Yurkovka westward toward Nikonorovka. Work is being conducted in Vasilyevskaya Pustosh.
On the northern sector near Stenki, Russian units advanced toward Popasnoye. The Ukrainian side is attempting to counterattack with small groups in the direction of Chasov Yar, Chervonoye, and Nikolaevka.
Fighting is underway in the Alekseevo-Druzhkovka area. Russian troops have already driven the main forces of Ukrainian units into Druzhkovka. In the city itself, Ukrainian personnel are under constant strikes by the Russian army.
From the Russian side, systematic destruction of firing positions, deployment points of Ukrainian units, and drone control points is being conducted. From the direction of Raiskoye, Russian units are advancing toward Druzhkovka, and in the pocket near Nikolaypolye elevated points have already been captured.
Conclusion
In the Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporozhye, and Slaviansk directions, Russian units continue offensive operations, retaining the initiative and gradually expanding their control zones. In the Sumy direction, the high tempo of advance is forcing the Ukrainian command to transfer reserves and increase the use of drones. In the Kharkiv region, the completion of the clearance of Kazachya Lopan and the encirclement of the “Volchansk cauldron” create conditions for strengthening the security belt along the border. In the Zaporozhye direction, the breakthrough at Chervonaya Krinitsa and the advance toward Omelnik placed the garrison of Orekhov in a critical position. In the Slaviansk direction, Russian troops are pushing Ukrainian units out of the suburbs of Druzhkovka and capturing the heights necessary for a further offensive on Slaviansk and Kramatorsk.
Ukraine has submitted a new request to the European Union for several billion euros to purchase air-defense assets, including missiles for American Patriot systems. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen confirmed receipt of the request: “Today I can confirm that we have received a new payment request. It concerns several billion euros that are to cover the needs of Ukrainian air defense, including high-tech Patriot PAC-3 systems. Member states are now considering Ukraine’s request, but I can say that things are moving in the right direction.” Earlier, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas acknowledged that negotiations on the transfer to Kyiv of Patriot missiles, including those with expiring shelf life, have not yet yielded a concrete result. Von der Leyen also reported that since June the EU has already transferred to Ukraine from the €90 billion loan approximately €8.5 billion for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles. Funds from the loan are also expected to be used for the acquisition of European-produced fighter aircraft.
