Late on November 17, an indirect fire attack targeted the U.S.-led coalition’s Green Village base in the northeastern Syrian governorate of Deir Ezzor.
In a statement, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said that several rockets hit the base, which is located within al-Omar oil fields in the southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. According to the command, the attack didn’t result in any casualties or material losses. U.S. forces in northeastern Syria are now investigating the attack.
“Attacks of this kind place Coalition Forces and the civilian populace at risk and undermine the hard-earned stability and security of Syria and the region,” said Joe Buccino, a spokesman for the CENTCOM.
The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the rockets that targeted the Green Village base were launched from a position of Iranian-backed forces near the government-held town of al-Mayadin in the southern Deir Ezzor countryside. However, the U.S.-led coalition is yet to make an official accusation.
The rocket attack on the Green Village base came less than a week after an Israeli attack on Syria’s central region. A series of Israeli airstrikes hit Shayrat Air Base in the eastern countryside of Homs on November 13, killing two service members and wounding at least three others.
The attack on the U.S.-led coalition’s base may have been carried out in response to the deadly Israeli attack on Shayrat Air Base. According to a report by the New York Times, Damascus and its allies in the so-called “Axis of Resistance” have recently agreed to respond to Israel’s repeated attacks by targeting coalition bases in Syria.
The U.S.-led coalition will not likely escalate after the attack on the Green Village base. Usually, the coalition only responds to attacks that results in casualties.

Well, they may use it if it’s accurate. It is. The Israeli attacks result in dead ppl. Like it or not. It’s far better to be accurate than hide behind words like “liquidate”, “neutralise”, etc. One can criticize the English here and there… but you criticize the one time they’re actually “telling it as it is”

How is it that very few of these attacks never hit at least a gas well or a storage facility. These ‘attackers’ have never decided to attack an assembly of loaded oil theft trucks before they become a convoy.
