On June 28, heavy rocket fire hits the base near the Omar oil field in Deir Ezzor, where the US Armed Forces are deployed. The attack came in response to the recent U.S. airstrikes on Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) in the Iraq-Syria border.

According to the reports by Al Arabiya, 60 U.S Military vehicles have entered the Syria’s Al-Hasakah governorate.

It seems to me that PMU responses are merely symbolic with no real negative reinforcement for the occupation forces. I am surprised the PMU isn’t using punitive measures like strikes on the supply chain, supply links, supply points, supply lines that stretch and lay beyond highly secured locations. Because without consequences that make the occupation force think twice they can act with impunity. I can only wonder if it is because the PMU fears the reaction of the occupation force and chooses to keep things on simmer to achieve objectives I am unaware of, or if the PMU doesn’t feel it can sustain under a heavy occupation force reaction.

Iran simply doesn’t want to escalate with America to the point that bombs start falling on Iranian soil. The regime resisted every single attempt by Israel and Trump to drag them into war. Had Trump continued as president in 2021, the Iranian regime would have been forced to fight or surrender – no third option.
The PMU is in a similar predicament. They want to control Iraq like Hezbollah controls Lebanon …. by gradually taking over Iraq via politicians, businesses, the military and intelligence community, etc. they’ll infiltrate state apparatus like Hezbollah did. But fighting the U.S is certainly going to destroy the PMU in Iraq. They are hoping to wait out the U.S in the hope that a future U.S president will pull out of Iraq.

By this I mean they equipped and dressed and behaved like the terrorists operating in terrorist areas to find out and meet up with the terrorists and kill them. Normally when security forces arrived in an area the terrorists went to ground and hid until the forces left. By pretending to be terrorists the locals would give them information that they wouldn’t give to security forces.
