A rocket landed late on January 9 near the Balad Air Base, which is hosting U.S. forces, in the northern Iraqi province of Salahuddin, according to Reuters.
Sources in the Iraqi Police told the news agency that the source of the rocket, which caused no casualties, is unknown.

The rocket attack came amid high tensions between Iraqi Shia factions and the U.S, which assassinated Iran’s Quds Force commander Maj. Gen. Qassim Soleimani and Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Deputy-Commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in Baghdad earlier this month.
A day earlier, a similar rocket attack targeted the U.S. embassy in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. No losses were reported as a result of the attack.
Qais Khazali, a leader of a large group in the PMU, denied responsibility for the attack on the embassy, stressing that diplomatic missions will not be targeted by PMU forces.
Nevertheless, Khazali vowed to respond to the assassination of Soleimani and al-Muhandis by targeting U.S. troops in Iraq.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responded to the killing of Soleimani by launching more than a dozen ballistic missiles on U.S. bases in northern and western Iraq.

Yes I was wondering about this. The aircraft was well maintained and in good shape. I have flown that airline, although aeroflot was better when in operated to Borispol. Tehran has no motivation. They’ll never agree to not trading or contact with Syria and Iran. It’s apparent that the U.S. can waste time, money and forces hanging out there, spending most of their time in the bases for safety but they are not going to reach their objectives.

Well the S-400 purchase would not come to be for several years. It takes a couple of years for Almaz to manufacture the export version sets and for the purchasing countries personnel to be trained. The export version does not include the most potent missile of the S-400 system, nor the same elite radars that Russian air defense forces use. The S-300 purchase could come about quickly, from stocks that have been replaced by the S-400. These systems would be similiar to the S-300’s that Greece operates and with which the U.S. is already familiar. Knowledge or not, they would still be dangerous to American aircraft and drones involved in nefarious activities in Iraq’s airspace and cause American behavior to change.
