On October 3, a militant was killed and nine others sustained injures on October 2 when the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) targeted their positions in southern Idlib with several rockets.
“The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) documented the killing of a fighter of the National Front for Liberation (NFL) and the injury of nine others of same military faction as a result of a rocket attack by regime forces on their positions in the village of Baarbu,” the UK-based SOHR said in a report.
The NFL was formed last year with support from Turkey. The group is now an ally of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and other al-Qaeda-affiliated groups.
This was the second such strike on October 3. A few hours arlier, the SAA struck several positions inside the town of Kafr Nabl in southern Idlib with heavy rockets.
These intense rocket strikes indicate that the SAA could be planning to resume its operations in Greater Idlib soon. The militants violated the ceasefire in the region several times during the last month.
