Early on January 5, an indirect fire attack targeted the United States-led coalition’s Green Village base in Syria’s northeastern region, according to Sputnik.
The Russian news agency said that a salvo of rockets hit the base, which is located within al-Omar oil fields in the southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. Several smoke columns were seen rising from the base. However, no casualties were reported.
After the attack, U.S. fighter jets and drones were spotted over the Green Village base. The coalition’s local proxy, the Syrian Democratic Forces, also deployed reinforcements around al-Omar oil fields.
The U.S-led coalition is yet to comment on Sputnik’s report. The coalition usually acknowledges attacks on its bases and troops within 24 hours.
If confirmed, this would be the second attack on a U.S. base in Syria in less than 24 hours. On January 4 morning, two rockets hit a coalition Mission Support Site located within the Conoco gas facility, just a few kilometers to the north of the Green Village base.
It’s worth noting that on January 2, a series of Israeli strikes hit the international airport of the Syrian capital, Damascus, killing six Syrian soldiers and wounding two others.
Last year, Damascus and its allies in the so-called “Axis of Resistance” reportedly agreed to respond to Israel’s repeated attacks by targeting U.S.-led coalition bases in Syria. The rocket attack on the coalition’s Mission Support Site Conoco and the unconfirmed attack on the Green Village base may have been carried out by Iranian-backed forces in response to recent Israeli strikes on Syria.
Poor Americans, nobody loves them!
Israel should find another way, since US is not working.
You mean like getting christian nations to fight amongst each other? And what did Zelensky say? Ukraine can be another Israel?
America actually want Christian nations to fight each other.
